block off plate problems

alright so i got a couple pics of the blockoff plate that my buddy made and its freaking great...however...

for some strange reason, after taking off my acv etc...the car will start up but dies instantly if i dont continually pump the throttle. i cant see or feel any vaccum leaks, boost pressure is still reading and its sealing correctly.

is there a problem in the lines that im using? can someone figure this problem out? arrrgh!

p.s. i have seen cases where people have opened the port behind the block off plate and ran the bov to that open port...could that be the culprit?

you do know your bac is pulling unmetered unfiltered air correct? you need to get that plumbed back into the intake and then you problem will be solved.

the bac is the valve right above your finger in the second picture

+1 ^^ thats a massive vac leak you got there.

also make sure you put some rtv or use gaskets with those block off plates.

i should plumb it back into the the intake system again? where's the best place for it to go? i took out the original "t" pipe that goes from the turbo to the intercooler couplers (if you could really call it a "t") and made a new one. should i make another inlet on there for it? or run a hose from where the stock bov/pressure relief went originally on the intake hose? thanks for the input.

im not dissagreeing with you at all btw just wondering because its doesn't seem to be sucking any air or blowing any out when the system is on...

if what you're saying is correct however, then i suppose blocking it off would not fix the situation or be "safe"

thanks guys. lemme know asap what you think. thank goodness for this forum.

plumb it back into the pipe you replaced that's after the turbo.

It may not feel like it's pulling or blowing air out of there but it is.

did you use RTV or anything on the block off plate to seal it?

it may be that the plate isn't on tight enough. im going to try and see if thats the problem.

if anyone has pics of their setup please send them to me or post them up...i could really use some visuals.

the other strange thing i mentioned earlier was that the pipe comming from the bottom of the bac wasn't plugged or plumbed back to anything prior to the acv being removed and the car was running fine so i dont quite understand what difference it would make.

thanks guys!

that stupid stud snapped off just recently when tightening it down and it was having problems when that one was tightened down all the way.

however looking at people's pictures i noticed that they removed those studs and put in their own bolts it looked like. does anyone have info on this? pictures? bolt size and threading? please lemme know so i can get out there and pick up what i need cause i need my car to be running. thanks.

problem pretty much solved. its just the plate leaking a slight bit. my buddy came over and was able to finally help out to find the leak.

sadly however, the stupid studs that were removed are of course crap. lol. one of em broke off inside...drat. oh well once i get that one out it'll be fine once again.

thanks guys!

yeah, I just use bolts that came with my blockoff plate, I have no idea what size they are though.

just take off a nut from one of the studs and bring it to the hardware store and start trying to stick it on bolts.
