the coolant is all gonna drain out, i dont think you can take it out from the bottom, i always just take all 4 nuts off the manifold to engine and pull the turbo and manifold out as one.

Here is a good thread detailing how to remove your turbo. I've never used this method, so I don't know if it's the "best" way, but here goes:

I always take my turbo out from the bottom. All you have to do is to take off the water line on the passenger side of the turbo. This is without taking off the manifold but either way it can come out from the bottom.

I know I took my neighbor's out the bottom just because we were having the downpipe fabbed so there was a lot of room to work with, having nothing under there..except reaching the 4 bracket bolts can sometimes be fairly difficult from down there.

This is how I did it Saturday.

Remove AFM/TID/and airbox if still there.
Remove TMIC
Remove the Turbo to TMIC couplers and BOV
Disconnect the BAC and UIM Vac line to get that pesky wire out of the way.

Disconnect the Top Oil feed line and put a rag in it to stop oil leaking.
Disconnect the Oil return drain.stuff a rag in the turb oil outlet

Unbolt the downpipe
Use your feet to push the downpipe/catback off the 3 bolts

Unbolt the 4 manifold to turbo bolts.
Disconnect the turbo to waterpump line. get a piece of paper towl ready to jam into the hose.

Then get a bucket. You might as well drain it now. It will probably leak out about a gallon of coolant.
Then unbolts the LIM to turbo water hose. The water should start to flow pretty good now.
A paper towel may come in handy to plug it. I didn't care and let it drain and then wiped it up.

Wiggle the turbo off and then make your way towards the passenger headlight with it and work it up out where the airbox would be.

If you have ABS .....the only way that turbo is coming out is the bottom.
