awd beat??

so my friend has been talkin alot of smack about his awd tsi and how its way better than rotarys and how pistons are way better than rotarys. the usual talking smack stuff! so i have this in mind for the build. is this a good start and what else would i need to match his tsi (400hp but awd)? it concerns me because of the awd so any advice greatly taken!

dual walbro fuel pump
mild street port
s4 turbo II swap
bnr stage 3
port wastegate as shown on fc3s
haltech or rtek
fmic or v mount
remove emissions
dual apexi n1
complete rebuild kit mazdatrix
omp removal (maybe still thinkin)

so if i need anything else please let me kno. i kno very little but im learning! done lots of research so this is my basic set up.

also what fuel injectors to use? i heard the rtek you can use only certain injector sizes if someone can clarify this and any more upgrades that you can do for fuel? i kno that fuel isnt something you should try and cut short so i kno fcd are frowned upon because it tricks the ecu. so what else is the besides pumps and injectors?

a single proper name-brand walbro will hold up to those levels.

A BNR stage 3 will support less than 400 whp, J-Rat squeezed 400 at 20 psi out of his BNR stage 4 on stock ports. I would not suggest doing this with an RTek. If you want to beat him you will need some sticky tires, and depending on how much he weighs, probably around the same power, maybe even more if he can launch well.

i would suggest going with a proper manifold/single turbo setup and the Haltech. It will be more reliable, but you will need a proper tune. Who will be building the engine?

First, what is your budget?

400 hp (crank) awd 93 talons are a 12.5ish qtr mile depending on tires, driver...etc.

His car is a DSM, that's pretty much the only response you should need in regards to anything he says. The only good thing about DSM is their open source ECU community.

so why do you have a link in your signature to donate and help save up for your mom's funeral, yet you have $3k to spend on a T2?

Get a bicycle and save for that first. Then just know that you will lose to a 400hp DSM, unless you really can pedal that fast. haha.

Well first off, the only thing you need to tell the guy is crank walk.

Second of all you're going to need like 550 primaries and 1600 secondaries (as a precaution and in case you want more in the future)

400 with a BNR turbo is pushing it, I would go for at least a GT35R or something of that nature.

Also, a 400hp rx7 is high 10s. That's what I got last time I went down the strip (1/4 mile) (10.9 sec).

Well, I was talking about Eclipses in general =P

ya, I had a T04S which I suppose doesn't flow as well as a GT35R and that was on stock ports, but that was for my FD which is a 13b-rew which has slightly larger ports from the factory.

But I think you'd still be able to beat him with 350hp maybe. I guess he's gonna be pretty heavy, lol.

I'm also pretty sure if you went with a GT35R you could get 400whp on the FC with stock ports.

You might be able to squeeze a full turbo build on that budget if not slightly more.

Get an ebay turbo manifold and get some welder to brace it, that'll be about $200, get an ebay tial wastegate (the knock off internals are interchangeable with real tial parts so when something goes, just replace it) you can use an ebay intercooler and piping, it should be efficient up to 400 but probably no more, get a koyo, get a blowoff valve off of Zilvia for around $100 and get a standalone (if you look in the FS section there are a couple of standalones for sale below $1000). That should be about $2000 right there, and the GT35 will be around $1000

Fuel mods are extra though, not included in that, lol, but I'm supposing you might already have this? if not add another $1000 for rails, lines, and fuel pump, tune, lol.

yea but he did remove alot from his car he only has one seat also he took a/c off powersteering off. um he bored his engine .02 and put evo pistons in so he has a pretty nice set up! oh ok that makes since! so why didnt you just go for the gt35r then?

All older DSM's are famous for crank walk.

Wanna beat him? Heres what you gotta do. Spend like $2400 of what you got saved up on a body kit. You gotta have that ****. Next cut off your exhaust right after the headers. Take off the intake plumbing and JB weld the AFM to your throttle body. Now buy a NOS kit and hook it up to the end of the AFM (make sure to keep it open). Adjust the dizzy to retard 20 degrees.

When he says go, hit that button and hold on for dear life, your in for a ride.

For real though. Buy a turbo motor and swap it into your car. Maybe get a aftermarket clutch and a chipped computer. Your budget isn't going to allow much else.

Don't get the T3 style. If anything get the T4. Your just restricting horsepower if you get the smaller flange.

Everyone and their mother has a GT35R. Also, there haven't been a lot of definite numbers. It seems everyone had different numbers, but it might also be because people had a T4 flanged turbo that belonged as a T3, and some had true T4 GT35Rs, idk.

I already had the T04S so I just went with that, and I read that the T04Z is capable of 500rwhp pretty easy, and I got it for a good deal, cheaper than going GT35R

As I said, you're going to need an aftermarket manifold for that turbo. Get an ebay T3 flange, people have been debating whether 3mm vs 2mm for a while, I stuck with 2mm in my FD. If you're going for HUGE power I'd get Rotary Aviation super seals, but they will DESTROY your rotor housings pretty quickly maybe 40k miles? if you're aiming for 400rwhp, you might want to use dowel pins, I had a buddy crack at one of the dowel pins and he only mad 370rwhp

Maybe I'm just getting old but spending a bunch of money just to beat your friend in a drag race seems like a big waste of effort. You've got a 2nd gen non turbo? Spend a little money on reliability stuff like an upgraded radiator, spark plugs, and an oil change, and start doing track events to become a better driver. You'll have more fun, and develop some actual skills worth bragging about.

Here's NASA Texas' page:

http://www.nasatxracing.com/events.php

$295 for a two-day HPDE weekend. Super cheap!

You have an S4? That means a mechanical OMP... you could keep it but get a rotary aviation kit that lets you run it off a small tank of two-stroke oil so you get the benefits of using two-stroke without the mess.
