Aux actuators on a 89 plus

I need to know what rpm the 6PI solenoid opens on a 89 plus model car. I prefer no guesses, please. I can't find it in the factory manual. How about a meter on the solenoid and seeing when they open as the car is rev'd?

I found it! There's a chart on p77 showing what does what and when. Acoording to that the aux ports when open under load and above 3850rpm.

In that case.. one more THANKS. I have a 87 model and I use a spare solenoid to activate the aux actuators and use the signal off the relief solenoid to trigger it. I think its 3500 rpm that its triggered, and I was wondering how close that was to the signal from the 89. Its fairly close to 3800 rpm. I'd never notice a 300 rpm difference. A more sensitive person might. Not I.

Im not trying to contradict anyone here, but I used to own an 89 NA and swear by it, and the VDI effect takes place at 5500rpm. You can feel it kick like 1psi of boost. This i\efect is not present on the 86-8 6pi system. I checked my 90 FSM and couldnt find the chart you descibed on p77(f1-77 I assumed). Now, this isnt to say that the 6th ports dont open at 3x00rpm, or that they do. IT could be the VDI valve inthe middle intake which produces the biggest impact on the VDI effect at 5500rpm, but I couldnt find anything to indicate at what RPM either of these devices engage(pressure only).

Dont forget, hailers, that there is a 89+ FSM now online at fc3s.org

Oh, if anyone finds out for sure, please post the resulta here so we all know.

Have a look at the line third from the bottom in the table on page F1-77 of the 89 FSM, it says Solenoid Valve (6 Port Injection). Look across and under "medium load (warm), acceleration and heavy load" it says "ON (Above 3,850 rpm)".
My guess is that this is when the solenoid valve is opened, but there may not be enough pressure from the air pump to open the ports fully, or even at all. The section on the aux port actuation says they should start to open at 5.9kPa and be fully open at 9.3kPa. Since the output pressure of the air pump would rise with rpm, the aux ports probably open gradually, to be fully open at high load and rpm. This would help to keep port velocity within an ideal range. Pretty clever Mazda!
I think the only way to be absolutely sure would be to do a power run on a dyno and actually watch to see when the ports open.
BTW, I couldn't find the rpm point for the VDI either.

Well yeah youre right. I swear I didnt see that last night. Thanks. Youre probably right about the gradual thing, but I can tell you that something abrupt happens at 5500rpm, whether it be the aux. port or the VDI valve int eh middle intake.

My guess is that's the VDI, but I can't find it in the manual anywhere.

Thanks for the info about the free factory manual at www.fc3s.org only problem is the last three times I tried to download from that site, I get nada. I can go to the www.iluvmyrx7.com and get the 87 manual right off the bat. Something to do with servers I reckon.
