I hear the boost gauge is actually the only one to be wary of. I am getting a set of Air/Fuel and Water temp for my FC.

I've always HEARD that Autometer makes some of the best gauges you can buy. I don't have any personal experience with them. I've heard that their gauges are really good, the only reason they're not as expensive as other gauges is because they're not as pretty looking.

Thumbs up autometer is ok

i have the boost gauge and its pretty good. it reacts good and to my knowledge seems to be near accurate.

it just doesnt look as good as my greddy egt gauge. if your on a budget its the perfect gauge. i have an 88TII and my autometer boost gauge reads what i should be boosting. 10-12psi with an occasional spike to 13-14.

so in my experience they work just fine but dont look as good as the more expensive ones.

Autometer has been making gauges for over 40 Years. They have roots in the domestic drag racing and nascar/busch series. They are top notch. The Air/fuel ratio gauge is probably not exactly precise, but its not supposed to be. I dont know about they're boost gauges.

With greddy, Apexi, HKS,Blitz, you are paying for a name and fancy looks. Granted they do have some gauges that Autometer does not offer(EGT, A/F ratio gauges that give you a ratio and not an LED)

I jst read a test of a bunch off boost guages and the autometer was off by 1.6 psi when it read 15 lbs. of boost. Forgot the site though....all the other manufactures were good..... .3-.6 psi off.

The reason I was told that the boost gauge is bad is that the silicon hose is to long and you end up with an inaccurate reading compared to an electric. If you know the loss from the hose, maybe 2 pounds or something it is not a big deal. You can just fgure it into the reading, 14 pounds instead of 12.

Ah, the power of marketing...
Autometer is popular because it's aggressively marketed to racers and people like us, it's been around a long time (often incorrectly assumed to mean "it must be good"), they're relatively cheap and it's a domestic product, which you guys seem to like! Autometer is not a **** product at all, but it's nothing flash. Comparison tests I've seen show their accuracy is inconsistent; some gauges are OK, some not. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for. There are much better gauges out there but you sacrifice body parts for them!
Personally, I don't like Autometer much beacause I think they're a bit gaudy looking, plus the boost gauge I had jumped around heaps over bumps. I prefer the VDO one I have now; minimalist looks, proven accuracy and it's rock steady.

Mine reads approx 2 to 2and 1/2 lbs high. I think I have one of the ones that isn't so good (boost gauge). I'm not a satisfied customer and I think I'll try some other gauge in the future. Probably built on a Monday.

Mine is pretty close. The Pro-Comp ones seem to work better then the Sport-Comp.

It's a 52mm gauge that reads from 30inHg vacuum to 15psi boost.

MY VDO boost gauge is horribly inaccurate, verified against two other gauges.
Also, no S5 car hits fuel cut at 4 psi, or makes 26-28 inches of vacuum. The gauge sucks!

The quality of their guages depends on the guage that you are buying. I have a Autometer electronic Fuel pressure (full sweep), and A/F guage. Autometer makes a quarter sweep electronic fuel pressure guage that is only like $70, but for the full sweep it costs around $175. Why? Because the full sweep is a much better guage. It uses an electronic control box, good quality wiring, and everything, and is much more accurate. The A/F guage was only like $45, and you can tell that it is more cheaply made than the fuel pressure guage (skimpier wiring and so forth). So, it depends on what guage you are buying. But I must say that they both work very well, even the cheap A/F, and also they are SAE measurements, not that confusing metric stuff! (although in reality I do wish that the US would catch up to the rest of the world and convert to metric).

No, your gauge sucks. You got a dud one that's all, and that's a bummer! I hope you took it back. No company is going to spit out perfect products 100% of the time, but you've got a better chance with VDO than you have with Autometer.
