automatic seatbelt issues--my thingy sticking out
Yeah, when I bought mine, both were broken. The dealer really didn't want to do it, I could tell. But they did. But what sucks is they cracked up some of my interior pieces...later
I just spoke to the dealership in my hood and they let me know that the car was only covered for 5 years/60,000 miles. I did mention that it is a safety feature and he said I would have to pay because the car is out of warranty.
There is a lifetime warranty on those seat belts that was put in place as part of the recall on them. The dealers generally don't want to repair these under warranty, but they are required to. The lifetime warranty is not limited by time, mileage, number of times that Mazda has had to repair them or number of owners that the car has had. I can send you a copy of the letter from Mazda that states this if you need it to help your dealer's memory.
Ok, I spoke with another dealership in the neighboring hood and he said YES, we'll fix that **** fo' free. He did let me know that they don't have the parts in stock so they would have to order it but that's no big deal, as long as it can get fixed. I'll post the outcome
Yeah, please e-mail it to me. I really don't feel like driving out of my hood. m5runner@gmail.com
yeah i went through that some whole ****

I went through this this past summer. Drivers side screwed up. Took letter and car to local dealer. One nut tried to give me a hard time, not warranty and had been fixed before. The parts manager and another couple of shop guys I knew there said we'll take care of it. Took about 2 hours for them to do it and they even went as far as to tell me to bring it back and do the passengers side (which I did) just to be sure even though it seemed to be working fine.
Final note: Mazda has to fix it, no ifs ands or butts. It's a safety issue from the NTSB for the lifetime of the car. It's has nothing to do with warranty or anything else. If you have a dealer problem call the number and they will call the dealer and if will be fixed, free.

In the letter, it says to call the NHTSA at 800-424-9393 if the dealer does not remedy the defect in the seatbelts under this warranty without charge in a reasonable amount of time.
If the dealer continues to give you trouble, call the above number.

Thats bull that some dealerships are actually turning people down ....
But anyways I have a question concerning my passenger door. When you lock it then try to open it from either side, then unlock it and try to open it, it doesnt open it permanently locks up until you go inside the panel and move this **** thing which is a real pain. My question is would a mazda dealership fix this for free similar to the seat belts?
