Auto starter??

Ive been considering getting a auto starter for my FC, has anyone done this. Because ive been thinking, could an auto starter hurt my car? or would it work without any detrimental issues...

Remote starter? It's possible, but youd have to bypass the clutch switch and park in neutral all the time.

I mean thats the least of my worries, my pops has a Evo 8 and his remote starter works beautifully... thing is the Evo is a newer car... so i was trying to find out if there might be any complications. Like it not running but still dumping fuel and etc...

87 tii with remote start here, clutch bypassed because im lazy. but if you buy the right system they are made for a standard, its a sequence of ebrake on, door open, door closed(or something like that)

I have RS/Keyless/Alarm on my vert. It's what I actually do for a living so, I did it myself.

I recommend you DO NOT attempt to do this yourself. On an old car like the Rx7, you have a whole lot of wiring to do. I do it for a living and even I was like "Man, this sucks".

Newer vehicles, you can use a CAN bus interface module like the FLCAN and DBALL do communicate with the BCM and ECU. Old cars, you have to make every connection manually, and trust me, it's more connections than you think it is.

older cars are easier... no programming/modules required. took me no more than 25 minutes to install. DBALL used to never work except on chevy(I haven't done one in a while though).

Besides fords with key wraps these are as simple as they get.

That is not accurate. The latest modules work perfectly in D2D mode and require far less terminations.

I am getting ready for work, but when i get home, I'll post every single termination that needs to be done for a RS/keyless/Alarm.

Manual transmission S5 RX7 RS/Keyless/Alarm Terminations. All of these must be done for it to work properly. In no particular order.

12v
ignition
accessory#1
accessory#2
Parking brake (can be found at the ignition switch oddly enough)
Starter kill and anti-grind relay wired to ignition switch
Parking lights
Relay to bypass neutral safety switch during remote start
Horn honk
Hood trigger
trunk/Hatch trigger
Keysense
Disarm for factory alarm (if equipped)
Tachometer
Foot brake
Door trigger
unlock output (you need to install actuators)
Lock output (same as above)
Siren output
Shock sensor
RS/keyless/alarm antenna

There are other AUX outputs from the alarm brain that you can use to trigger other things ( like blower motor or whatever) but these are the MUST have connections.

wrong, all you need is

12v
Starter
Ign
Acc
Ground(cant believe you forgot that )
Parking Lights(also not "needed" )
brake switch

if you have factory alarm, than you need the disarm.
no need for tach
don't NEED horn honk but its easy enough to get

bypass clutch switch, leave car in N when you park.

all that other crap is unneeded for our cars... he asked for a starter, not an alarm/starter combo.

like I said, it took me a whooping 25 minutes to install.

yes, DBALL is great for cars now, when it first came out, it was hit or miss.
but not gonna argue, to OP... Yes you can put in a remote start with no harmful issues

Dude, you are totally spreading misinformation.

Please tell me, how is the OP going to put his car into manual reservation mode and SAFELY remote start his car with just those connections?

It's stupid **** like that, that causes people to **** up their cars. I wouldn't let you work in my shop.

when did I say he has to do it my way? as an installer myself, I half assed my own car, as im the ONLY one that drives it, EVER... our shop has a reputation that I uphold. I would never do a customers car like that.

relax man, you made a point, and I came back and made mine.

so before you get anymore butthurt for no reason...

DISCLAIMER: I do not condone, or recommend anyone attempt to install a remote starter the way I have mentioned above as you may cause damage to your car, yourself, or others.
Unless you know what you are doing and know that no body else will ever drive your car...

i do have another question i just thought of, my last FC had a starting issue, i never found out what it was but a short description was if the car was cold and i started it up i needed to give it gas or it would immediately shut off.. where as if it was warm it would start up and idle no problem... would something like that hinder the auto starter from working??

Granted most likely my next FC will be no where near a project and im trying to insure no issues upon pick up!

that's where a tach hook up would come into play.
