It really depends on the application - here's a breakdown -
The stock Mazda 2mm apex seals are excellent. Inexpensive, long life.
3mm seals give you a TINY bit more headroom as far as detonation is concerned, but that's it - you can break 'em too. The only good reason for 3mm seals is if your rotors are out of spec - you can mill them for 3mm seals.
The Hurley seals are a great idea on used rotor housings - they seal a lot better. They're softer, and don't offer as long of a life as the stock Mazda seals - probably 40-50,000 miles. The good thing with the Hurleys is they won't take out a rotor housing if you break an apex seal - they're quite soft.
The Ianetti ceramic seals IMHO are a big waste of money. They're hard to break, but you CAN break them, and they will TRASH the inside of your motor when they do. Not to mention they're $1800! That money can be better spent elsewhere.
Carbon apex seals are good for VERY high-RPM race engines - that's about it. As in, a 14,000 RPM peripheral port or the like - not something you can drive on the street.
So, there's really not a "best" - you have to consider the application.

That was'nt the Question? I want to know if anyone has had Good or bad experiance with say a Hurley?
eg. I have had Hurley Tips and they've knackered my housings in 40k so i'm not a big lover of the Hurleys.

Ok the stock 2mm apex seals are the best ones simply because they are the strongest and least likely to tear up your rotor housing if they blow.
3mm's are 50% more rotating mass making it quite simply heahyer and when they go they TEAR THE **** out of your rotor housings. now when you blow one i would rather be able to rebuild mine than having to buy another different engine!

Mind, this is all second hand experience.
I've only used stock Mazda 2mm apex seals. They, uh, work .

I have first hand experiance of the Damage Hurley tips have done to my new Housings, Ok they work well with second hand Housings (wear in quick and get some more miles out of them) but i dont like how Chattered the Housings where on a Fairly low hp Engine with 40k on them.

I've also heard some bad things about Hurley seals, quick question though, is there a difference between 3pc 2mm Stock mazda seals, and the 3pc 2mm atkins seals?
