Anyone using Act heavy duty street/strip clutch kit in their car?
I am trying to figure out what kind of clutch i should get, act seems like a more well trusted brand than the other clutch i was considering (spec stage 2). I found the act street/strip clutch, heavy duty pressure plate kit for my n/a for $327 shipped (24 dollars more than the spec stage 2), anyone with a act hd ss clutch kit tell me your opinions on it, the only difference i notice between the two is the other is a kevlar disk

The ACT S.S. clutch is nice. The clutch pedal is hardly affected, and is way more durable than stock.
Basically I bought it for my old n/a, liked it, had no problems with it, nevered slipped on me.

my friend has it but i see a good difference between it and my stock pressure plate, the clutch is basically stock but the PP is upgraded. IMO its the best street/strip clutch you can get....

What gains/difference do you get if you put a lightweight flywheel along with a streetstrip clutch on an N/A s4? I'm about to do a clutch upgrade and so far I am going with that street/strip clutch but I was wondering if its worth adding a lightweight flywheel while the tranny is down.

A lightweight flywheel will make your car accelerate faster, but makes launching the car more difficult. Basically if you want to drag race, stick to the stock clutch. Anything else, a lightweight flywheel is better.

I have a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch in my 91 n/a and has about 25,000 miles on it. I beat on it pretty hard, I like to down shift/up shift through curves and I usually come to a red light going back through all the gears. I have not had any trouble with it, and my clutch pedal is not at all stiff. I think the cost was around 300 when I got it. Came as a complete kit except for a throw out bearing, which I got locally for like 15 bucks. Anyway, I would recommend the Centerforce, but I don't know the ACT clutch.

just got through putting the turbo version of the act street and strip clutch, and a 12.5 pound steel flywheel in my 1986 base model. the tires are always gonna give before this clutch. not so impressed with the lightweight flywheel. the power is smooth and before you know it you are doing 100 mph but i notice some low end torque missing. the car just doesn't feel as fast and i wanna blame it on the flywheel--jeremie

I run a 11lbs Alum flywheel, ACT copper unsprung 4 puck with a stock pressure plate. It handdles whatever I can throw at it. But it is a little tricky to get used to getting it out of 1st. Just make sure those tps 's are adjusted properly!!!!!!!!

if you got a couple hundred solid horsepower then go for the lightweight flywheel but its not to fun for a daily driven non turbo car. you need the extra weight of the stock flywheel for the non turbo cars to help with the torque. theres not alot of weight spinning in these engine anyways--jeremie

Go for the ACT HD SS clutch and Pressure plate dude... I had that setup in my GTU and it was awesome... No sense of gong with a 6-puck when that clutch works so well. Especially for a street car!
I have The ACT xtreme Disc and pressure plate in my TII making over 300 HP and its AWESOME too..... Only thing is, I need a Stainless steel clutch line now with the increased pressure.... Didn't need it on the GTU with the regular HD pressure plate though..
