I believe that it has the same tranny and engine as the first generation Ford Probe turbo. You can probably get the Ford for less $, but depends on which body of the two appeals to you. Aslo there are some informative websites on the Probe turbo on the WWW which is a good place to get more technical info on the 2 cars. If you were looking for a N/A sleeper, then look for a Ford Taurus SHO. It's engine is shipped to Yamaha where it's tweeked out to 210bhp. 0-60 is 6.7sec, that's .1 more than the 87-93 Mustang 5.0. The potenial for the engine is vast and the only reason it's not faster than the Mustang is because Ford didn't want to unleash a 4 door that would be quicker than it's pony car. On the outside it's only difference to the regular Taurus is a mild body kit, dual exhaust, and SHO badging. Good luck.

Yo,

Thanks for the info, it even looks like the MX-6 Turbo GT has the same rim offset of our cars! So I can slap on my old GTUs multispokes! *grin*

K, you buy a SHO and I will come down to CA and beat you like the tard you are! SHO's are the most pretentious peices of crap on the market, their engines are extremelly finicky and they tend not to last that long. Go with Mx-6. My friend has one and they are extremelly quick and a blast to drive. Oh well my .02 cents

It's the same as the 1st Gen Ford Probe GTs.

-2.2L Four Cylinder Turbo
-145HP
-190TQ
-Boost can be safely raised to 12psi with a $35 mod.
-They are fun cars and the engines and turbos last forever. I rarely hear any problems concerning them.

ALL your questions can be answered at http://www.probetalk.com in the "1st Gen Performance" and "1st Gen Maintenance" forums. It's a forum just for Probes and MX-6s with as many members as this one.

-Stephen

P.S. Get the car!!

Actually it's the other way around. The MX-6 engines were fitted into the probes. This was when Ford wanted to build a more fuel-efficient version of the Mustang.

I don't see many on the road, but I think I'd like one as a daily driver if I could find one in good shape.

A-Spec in Toronto knows a lot about the MX-6 Turbo and could help you out if you needed parts. They'd likely be cheap based on the exchange too.

Later,

Yeah that car is great...the 1988 ones had a cool digital dash!!! 89&up went back to analog gauges. And they came loaded with luxury features too. I think that for my next car, I'll give it a try...just because they so cheap NOW and they got a turbo, so should be GREAT FUN!

They're supposed to have active AWS, too. I've been semi-hunting for one so I can get the rear rack, ps pump, and related electronics for my Millenia S. For those who don't know, the Millenia is set up for AWS (rear has adjustable toe via fake rack, upper and lower ball joints) from the factory, and probably has it as an option in the Motherland.
