Anybody with headers ever done this?

With a collected RB header run a 2.5" pipe to a 3" to the rear no mufflers, no silencer, just for the hell of it? Or for racing purposes(as I'm assuming it would be only slightly too loud for the street )? I was thinking about maybe getting a shop to fab up cheap fat straight pipe from the header the whole length of the car and exit on side of the rear. Am I onto something or am I insane?

You have a a death wish. A guy I know owns a GSL-SE with a single straight through muffler along, and his exhaust sets off car alarms thousands of feet away.

His car at half a mile sounds like its just pulling up next to you.

Do you think you would get 5 feet, spitting jet flames and making a sound that could crack glass without getting pulled over by a cop? I think not.

That and the fact that the backfiring along would burn the paint off of your car.

I drove my n/a with JUST a header on the freeway (1 hour drive roundtrip) and I was getting dirty looks from everybody When a cop was near, I would press in the clutch and cruise on by. I dont think none of my neighbors were too happy with me that week. Your setup WILL BE LOUD.

I'm not aware of anyone who has ever tried it. You might be onto something . . maybe the next big discovery in exhaust performance technology. I say go for it!

Why would I be backfiring and burning the paint off the car? I mean to construct a straight pipe that runs in the stock location as a single, with no mufflers or silencer, stock mounting points, exiting the rear of the car, starting at 2.5" and on to 3". And seriously, I have no intention of running this set-up on the street, maybe the drag strip or autocross event just to be annoyingly obnoxious
