Any problems with tapping the water pump housing?

I want to put a sensor in there for the Haltech. The only thing Im afraid of is metal shavings getting into the housing. Can I tap it and then just run some water through the housing and turn the pump by hand to try and get them all out?

It's really not that much work or time to yank the housing, so I'd do that if I were you.

None at all. Kinda a pain if thats all you are doing, but if you had the car all apart, could have tapped done in 10 mins.

Can't you use the pre-existing Sensor (not sure on It's purpose. Aux fan?) found below the Water Temp Sensor? I say this b'c your going stand alone.

Prior to my conversion I had It tapped on the Thermostat Housing. But now, I'm going to take advantage of the Water Pump Housing with It being off and tap there.

I'd take off the Housing. I'd hate to have even a sliver of shavings circulate and ultimately clogg up the Radiator Core.

I asked in another thread but didnt get a valid response. How hard is it to pull the water pump? any complications? How long does it take? I just want to take it off to inspect the impeller.

Simple. Actually. Once the Main Crank Is out, you'll have to take out the additional Pulley. From there, you can remove It.

I'd Imagine your Impeller Is fine. It's the Inner bearings or/and seal that would bet the culprit.

Do you have WP or related problems Ross?

4 bolts for the main pulley, and 4 nuts on the water pump.

The only sensor I have is the water thermoswitch. Its too small to accept the sensor that came with the Haltech, so Im just gonna drill/tap it larger.
