Any other heater fan that fits the FC?
Any other heater fan that fits the FC?
As you all know, the FC heater blows, literally and the other way.
Is there any other car that got the same type of blower with a little more power than this ....ty thing?
Living in the US is probably okay, but going 20 degrees and snow in Norway is way different. That is.. over half the year with snow too. October-November till early May. I need a better heater than the crap that is here now.
Also, the original fan costs dicks and ***** new (4000 Norwegian Kroner. Divide by 6, and you got USD. Yes, the pretty nice number of 666$)

From: Behind a workbench, repairing FC Electronics.
Check the coils for dust, mold, and other crud. After 20 or so years of having air blown through them the coils probably gather their fair share of restrictive debris.
They are cleaned already, with alcohol. Also the bearings are okay, so it is just a slow motor, which the FC is known for anyways.
Are there no other cars that got a similar motor, just more powerful?

I wasn't aware that FCs were "known" to have slow motors, mine works great (in fact, I'd rate the FC heating system as one of the better I've encountered).
That said, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to find a way to cobble in a blower fan from something you think is better...what car do you think has a fan that would be an upgrade?

All but the AE86 really ^^,
I am not sure what fits in there, the fan of the RX is probably pretty unique in size and so, so I gotta find a car with the same size.
And that is why I ask here.

Unfortunately, finding any data about blower fans is going to be tough, so I think you're going to have to get "hands on" in a junkyard and see what might be usable.
Winter in Norway is probably not the best time to be doing this...
Edit:
I actually doubt that the FC fan is all that unique, wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't found in a variety of cars.
The enclosure is certainly model specific but the fan probably isn't.

I believe there are two relays related to fan speed such that one is devoted to solely for the highest speed. Are you having problems with this relay? You might want to try warming up the interior by using the defroster vents only. Why? Because it is more effective in warming up the large windshield plus the air comes out of these vents more forcibly and the air usually deflects off the windshield and towards the face of the driver. Also, use the rear defroster to aid in the heating of the car.

Hey Jimmy-
What is your thermostat temperature? If the engine coolant temp isn't attaining 82*C, you might stay cold.
I recently drive my FC convertible at 11* F (-11 C). After the engine warmed up, I had to turn the fan way down low.
I do hear the same complaint about the FC fan regarding Air Conditioning, but usually their A/C isn't attaining the air temp that is required to do the job. When the guy is putting out 45* air, the fan really 'sucks'. Let me properly charge the air so that you get 32*F (0* C) air and the fan feels so much stronger.

No that is not a problem. My gauge always stays on the middle.
Also, it ain't the temperature, it is the speed of the fan, it is horribly slow.
If I find a motor with more power, and I can attach the fan in it, and put all this inside the enclosure, I am happy
Someone must have tried something like this before I guess. Just hope that person pops in here and say hello
If I can't find anything, what should I use for the motor bearings, to lube them? Any special grease or oil that is better for electrical motors? I have never lubed one before :P Might be worth a try.

Have you checked a local auto parts store for a replacement? I don't know what your parts stores are like there, but around here such a replacement motor is about $150. They were commonly used in many Japanese cars of the era.
It's likely yours is just worn out. I have driven my FC (and for that matter, my SA) in -40C weather and have not had any issues with the speed of the blower. In fact, generally turning the thing up all the way roasts my feet.

I don't know how accurate this EBay listing is, as they list a lot of cars and trucks that the same blower motor fits.

Is it possible all these outfits advertise an item which is not what you're precisely looking for? Yes, but not likely. The last link I believe is for Mazda manufactured parts and their's goes for $247 or so.
The O'Reilly listing is probably the most telling, showing you that the same motor is used on 120 mazda models.
In my experience, all the Mazda blower fans from this era are interchangeable. I personally have an MPV fan on my MX6.
I will second the belief that there is nothing wrong with the stock fan, but given the logicon and age, the fan is probably not performing at its best. Personally, I know I'd burn myself if I left my fan on Hi at the hottest setting.

You can use fine oil (sewing machine oil) to lube the bearings but you will need to take the motor apart. Just the act of taking it apart, cleaning the bearings and then lubing them up might fix it back to 100% anyway so it's worth doing. Too bad that I tossed a few of these just a few months ago or I'd send one for the cost of shipping.
Ah, while I'm at it, the relays, say that they are corroded and stuff from 22 years of usage, where are they and what type are they? If they are a generic type like SPDT or something, I can get those and the wires from the relay to the motor swapped as well. Might help a bit too.
EDIT: Mah, not corroded, carbonated.
