Any advantages to tid mod other than raising boost?

I have a boost controller so I dont need it just to raise boost. Also my stock one has no cracks so would I benefit in any way from tis mod? oh yeah its an 87 T2 with intake, exhaust, fuel, etc etc

the fact that it raises boost is a downside to the TID... creep is bad. the only correct way to raise boost is with a controller.

the upside is faster spool up. less boost drop at higher rpms, and more power.

The name of the game is efficiency.&nbsp You're letting the engine operate more efficiently.&nbsp In theory, you're supposed to use less fuel, but I doubt you could get any hard number to support this unless we're talking over a 100,000 mile test range.

yea, it is the Turbo Inlet Duct......the mod takes out the 390 degree bends and puts in a single 45 degree bend, and uses larger piping

You're looking at it all wrong. You don't replace the TID to raise boost. You do it to remove restrictions to the airflow. This results in the engine having to do less work to pull air through it, meaning more power at the flywheel. The higher boost is a result of this extra airflow.
The stock TID (whether cracked or not) is very restrictive, and good gains are seen with a nice free-flowing one in its place. However because of the crap S4 wastegate, you may get more boost than you have fuel for.

thsnx for the replies, I have a well ported WG and with 3" ex and intake I dont get any creep, and like it that way, which is why I have been hesitant to do this mod. After hearing these replies I will though.
