Black with a white strip indicates its a power wire i.e. 12v on it when the key is to ON. Sorry but I looked at two cars and neither had that single wire connector. This is up front near the relays in front left of the car, right? I can't imagine a single wire connector that has just power going to it. It looks factory though. I only have series four cars so maybe its a series five thing. Lot of words to say I don't know.

Its an 88TII if that helps...it goes into the harness below in the pic and looks old and factory like...All I can say is I'm stumped on this one! But what on the A/C; I don't know of anything that it can goe to.
You got a point. The a/c has a single wire connector that goes to it. I just looked. YES INDEED! It is for the airconditioner. I'd a swore the a/c wire was pure black. Nope. Black/white.

Yes indeedy. It's the wire that kicks the compressor on and off. That wire should be making it way back to the airconditioning relay. Anyway, the airconditioner has a single wire on it with a connector that should mate to that one in your picture. It is a little strange that it's in your hand up front like that. It should be running down low and headed towards the compressor. What's connected to your compressor right now????
EDIT: Maybe what I wrote is confusing. That wire should be ORIGINATING at the ac relay and going to the compressors connector, which is also a single wire connector.
