Another no start issue...

'88 TII.

I just put everything back together after pulling the injectors to get them cleaned, had the TB/ UIM all apart to clean thoroughly and reassembled all of that. There was a bunch of aftermarket garbage on the car (foglights, 2 way pager/ alarm, gauges) that I had removed, and changed the fuel filter. Also swapped out the cluster for an S5 unit (re-arranged the wires in the plugs, and everything seems to work - tach, fuel gauge, voltage, etc). Flushed the coolant as well.

Anywho, I primed the fuel system (verified that fuel delivery was not an issue by removing the post-filter fuel hose), I have spark (along with new wires and new plugs which were put in before the car was pulled off the road, so that's not an issue), I double and triple checked all the plugs/ hoses/ linkages to make sure I didn't miss anything... But she just won't start now.

She does sound rather healthy while cranking, but I just can't get her to start.

I'm thinking maybe when pulling out the 2-way alarm system I could have missed a wire or something? However when I was putting it all back together, everything seemed to slip right into place with nothing left dangling or unplugged. Perhaps lack of one sensor input or another? Like I said though, I did check over all the plugs/ fittings/ linkages, and everything seems to be OK.

I haven't really spent too much time on it yet as the battery was starting to die, it's been sitting on the charger for the last couple of hours now and I figured I may as well make the time productive and see what you guys have to say.

Anything I may have missed? Anything I should quadtruple check?

Thanks guys (Y)

Check fuel flow at the return line.
It's easy to get the lines switched & the FPR will not flow backwards.

Very well, my bad then!

Anywho, a bit of an update:

I checked the engine - firewall ground which I had some suspicion of, however that was fine. I don't think the TPS could cause a no start, as sensitive as it is... And when I was priming the fuel system, I actually didn't hear anything out of the fuel pump in the rear. I did have fuel past the filter running through the hose, however thinking back now, it didn't seem to be pressurized.

Right now my best guess is either I cut a fuel-cut bypass wire somewhere while removing the alarm, or my fuel pump is shot. I had cutting out issues while the car was running when I'd give it WOT, and if my fuel pump was on it's way out, I'm hoping that was the cause & now that it's completely pooched, I get nothing at all.

Anywho, whenever I get time I'll check if there's power going to the pump, and if there is, then I'll check the pump itself.

Hopefully that's the culprit, because I'd really hate to have to take it all back apart after just putting it back together.

So suspecting that my fuel pump was pooched, I checked if it's getting any power first, so I bridged the test plug, and with the fuel pump plugged in, I got a reading of 3V across the terminals. When unplugged, I was reading 6V. This seemed a bit odd to me, so I figured I'd remove the bridge, and see what I was getting while cranking it... I noticed though that with the bridge wire removed, the readings didn't change, nor did they while I was cranking. So, my question is - What kind of readings should I be getting? I'd imagine if I cut a fuel-cut bypass wire when removing the alarm, I shouldn't be getting any power at all if it bridged into the power wire itself. Anybody got any other ideas? Pump relay perhaps?

Have you checked the pump by using a jumper wire in the two prong check connector beside the passenger side strut cover? When you have it jumped and have the key in the on position, the pump should run for a few seconds then go off.

Yes I have, and I don't hear the pump, hence why I was testing it. I mentioned ^^^ up there that I was getting the same readings with the check connector bridged, without it bridged, cranking, etc.
