Question am i getting in too deep?

im just wondering what all would be needed in swapping in a 3rd gen TT engine into an 86 sport. i have the engine lined up, but im wondering if the cost will get too outragous for me to finish the project. thanks.

Wow. Remove the twins, and it should fit. Now you need to get a FMIC, ECU, Tranny, differential (cuz yours won't handle 250hp), exhaust, etc. I'm not even sure if the motor mounts would work. Save the headache, and get a TII engine. It is the same block, the reason the REW is a faster engine is b/c of the twin turbos, and a more agressive fuel map.

There is also a problem with the cooling system plumbing, but it can be done.

Not necessarily true, but for the most part, correct.
The port sizing was much lrager on the S6 engine, as will as a better intake manifold with a bigger TB.
Rotor housings were more advanced, and thus require less OMP lubrication.
Engine will not fit stock mounts, count on making your own.
Twin turbos will fit, but you'll need the entire wiring harness and ECU to run them.
The 13BREW is a better platform to begin with, but you are looking at some big bucks to get it running right.
As my bro said, stick with the 13BT.

I would say if you have the ability to custom fabricate stuff yourself, and you have access to the right equipment you probably have a good shot at it. However if you can't weld, and don't have the ability to fabricate all the little crap it's going to take then it might get out of your league

Uh theres also the small problem of ther motor mounts

Cosmo engines and REW's mount in the rear, while FC's are in the middle

Twin turbos can be ran in a non seq format, but your still gonna need an ECU to control everything... Probally a $1500 haltech e6k

While the motor mounts are a pain in the ***, there's a little correction on the last remark.

The 13B-REW FD engine has it's engine mounts on the rear side iron,. but they are underneath.

The 13B-RE Cosmo engine technically has engine mounts on the rear iron, but it's a triangulated engine mount that also connects the center housing.&nbsp These Cosmo engine mounts are on the SIDE of the engine.

I've had people ask me in confusion about this, and NO, the engine mounts are NOT the same for both motors!

The K2RD Cosmo engine mounts make dropping in the Cosmo engine a drop-in affair with little fuss.&nbsp A 13B-REW FD engine swap is a royal pain-in-the-*** compared to this.&nbsp Either you got good metal fabricating and welding skills, or pay a shop at least $500 to make engine mount adapters for the conversion.&nbsp Greg Coe figured out another way by drilling the 13B-REW FD center housing and adapting a 13BT FC oil pan to this motor, but you'll need to address the difference in oil pan dimesions especially in the front of the oil pan edge cause it doesn't quite fit.

Combine this with the fact that the Cosmo 13B-REW is actually a better base to work from than the FD 13B-REW (bigger ports, better intake manifold) and you'd be mad not to use one.
