Alternator relocation kit.........

Alternator relocation kit.........
Hey guys I wanted to ask you all what kind of price range you all would want for an alternator relocation kit.
Background: the alternators on our cars is quite a heavy piece and it sits up high on the engine. Being performance minded I want to lower the CG of the engine. I was thinking of having a kit made for relocating the alt to the area where the a/c is stock on FCs since I don't need or want an a/c or PS for that matter. this would help handling a little bit(stressing little so don't start) how much would you all pay for a full set of parts to do it with simple hand tools(sockets and shiz)?

Actually, dude.... thats NOT a bad idea.... HOWEVER... its gonna take more than brackets for guys running the stock charging system... you'll need a wiring subharness as well.
ALSO.. The Water Pump.... you'll need a much longer belt to go around the WP the alt and the bottom pully... might get too long... and you have to keep the Alt up about as high as the WP to get enough belt surface on the bottom pully to keep it from slipping...
Upside is, you'll get more belt covereage on the WP, and lessen the lippage on that.
Me... I ditched that just long ago and made my own charging circuit, so modifying that wouldn't be a big deal... I'd pay 50 bucks for the bracketry all weded up so all i had to do was bolt it onto the old AC mounts and get new belts.

well, it'd be easier to get to one place and harder to get to another If you think the center of gravity change will have any effect you'll be quite disappointed. The alternator isn't just floating in the middle of nowhere...nor is it weighing down one side or another. It's bolted on an already heavy piece (the engine) and placed in the middle of the car. If you want a more functional weight-distribution mod then relocate the battery to the passenger rear bin.
Admit it, you just want to play around with the car

don't hate me because I want to tinker! >:O
I think CG would be a good reason to do it. I guess it is debatable. Less body roll(admitedly a very small amount but its something!) And I don't really do much around the A/c's area. Only thing I could think of you need to work on there is the spark plugs which is what? once or twice a year. Compared to fuel problems or coolant problems which we all know happen more often lol.

the reason I did it was the alternator in the stock location interfered with other things I wanted to have there. It also improves the belt coverage on the water pump pulley to the point that you can run a single belt with no slipping (i rev to 9k regularly with the photographed setup, no slips). The change in CoG is minor but present, just another perk to the relocation.

port matched s4 NA LIM modified for S5 use, RB DCOE UIM, TWM DCOE EFI conversion individual throttles, custom aluminum air box / plenum built around the individual horns on the throttles going to a mandrel bent aluminum intake tube... 4 x 550cc injectors, -6AN fuel system, haltech e6k ecu, rb aluminum flywheel etc.. nothing too crazy.
theres certainly more that can't be assumed but it's too much to list, I already went too far on the details.

casio: i dont think i ever posted much about the setup, as it realyl is unfinished, i am still in the prototype stages as far as th emanifold is concerned, and that is an old pic with no filter, the stock elbow fits on there and gides the air filter to the back wehre teh charcoal canister is. then its blocked off as to make a box and there is a small amoutn of teh weather strippign missign at the rear of the hood to let fresh air in. the motor is stock port s5 6 port, with e6k, fd coils, and so on. if you are curios what it put down at the wheels, its 178whp with stock header and a 2.5 inch straight pipe after that with a canister type muffeler. the exhaust wil be changed soon. i have yet to fully tune the car and dyno with the new header and exahust on. you will see the results sowmehre on the forum when its compelted.
there is too much to list...

okay, i thought yours was the custom intake manifold stock port e6k 178rwhp n/a, but i wasnt sure. i was asking about the open throttle body sound cause the pulleys are spinning in the pic, so the engine is running. i thought maybe you revved it a few times to hear it (i know i would). i've heard rotaries with short intakes (or p-ports) have very loud intakes; i am yet to hear one.

Man... some people.
Whats up with some of you? Just want to tweak with **** on the car just so its not like "stock". How would relocating an alternator 8 inches lower but WAY over to some side help with CG? Oh **** I moved my 15lb alternator and now my car is SuPeR FaSt Y0$!!@! JDM alternator y0!!
Pathetic mod... now getting your car to run would be something worth while.

I would go for one to make working on the engine easier and to give the engine bay a little bit of symmetry, but the alternator serves as the tensioner for the supercharger's belt.

i can't agree with the mod "as is," but i like both pics posted in this thread. i do, however, think some carb'd rotaries and one with certain custom intake manifolds (though these seem rare) look funny with nothing but an alternator sitting above the engine. it looks so strangely out of place. then again, on the side?? i guess rotaries are just weird.
