Alternator Identification.

Now first instinct is to think that this is an FD alternator because of the orientation of the clip however it seems to be a little bit off from where FD one usually is which is parallel to the bracket mount side.

This is the only writing on the alternator. Got it from Eagle auto electric and Im awaiting a reply but I feel like rx7 users would know better.

Mazda RX7 1 3L 1986 1987 1986 1987 Alternator Generator 130 High Amp 1 V Pulley | eBay

I just want to know because it would affect how I wire it to the car right?

FD Alternators have an entirely different Power Pole design.

The one designed for the TII clipped from the back. No idea why Mazda made them different TII vs NA.

Pop off the pulley and measure the thickness of the shaft. FD shafts are thicker.

More obvious would be the pulley. If you have a single (not double) V-belt pulley, I'd bet the house it's an FC Alternator.

Swapped the B pole from the S4 alternator to the new one so the stock wire would fit.

The pigtail I set up so that the clip would plug in but I cut the S wire is actually going to be run all the way to the empty spot in the fuse box or to an independant fuse. Not sure yet.

I had to rotate the B pole -90 degrees so that it would clear the top mount intercooler. This shouldnt effect it at all right?

Will not affect anything. Connected is connected.

Just to confirm, the yellow AND white/black stripe wire are not BOTH connected to the green wire. Right?

Nope. I just wrapped it up like that to keep it clean looking but the yellow is just wrapped to avoid touching anything. just the white and black one is connected to the green one. the other wire is being run to the fuse box as soon as I can find a female spade connector to fit.

Good. I had just finished reading a write up on FD alternator into an S4, so was worried for you for a minute.

Used a female connector I pried from another clip and put it into this connector for the bottom of the fuse block.
(Before new female connector installed)

Based on everything I've read so long as your connection is:
- at the firewall side bank of connectors in the main fuse box and
- lining up with the previously empty fuse slot and
- you don't forget to put in the 30 amp fuse (LOL)

you should be good.

When dealing with anything electrical, always a good idea to be like a carpenter. Measure twice, cut once.
