Alarm System

Well, apparently my alarm works...actually didnt even know it had one. I was at work the other day and heard horn beeping but didn't pay any attention to it because i didn't know i had one. But come to find out it was my car. So i was just wondering how do you set it and what would make it go off?

well the way mine works is i have to lock both doors from inside then close door
a light near e-brake turns on. if u turn the key in ur door it also can turn it on and off to enable and disable it. but both doors need to be locked for it to work.

To arm the alarm you must lock the doors from the inside switch,(I've heard the car must be running and then shut off before, but I don't have too) you should hear a beep. Then close the door and hold the handle up as you close it. It should arm after about 30 seconds with another beep. Leave your window open and reach inside and pull the door handle and see if it goes off. To disable the alarm while its going off you need to use your key in the door or sometimes key in the trunk.

If you have a S5 vert you will not have the square security button in the center console. But you will have a security symbol(car witha key in the middle) in the idiot light cluster. After locking the door and closing with the door handle up it should be lit up then it will start flashing moderatley fast for about 10 seconds then fast for 5 seconds then beep and the alarm is on. After that the security light will flash once every 3 seconds.

i have a 88 vert with a rectangular light by the e brake that says "alarm" on it, but evidentally it doesn't work anymore..when i got the car, it never came with key for the door, must have lost it, so i can never lock my doors. I had to find out the hard way that the ignition key and the door key were different.....

do you think if i get a key made it will make it work?
