air pump

ok so i just put a k&n cone filter on to replace my air box... but the hose to the air pump obviously has nowhere to fit on the afm or the filter... so i just put a sock over it for now so it doesn't suck in anything big.. but the question is do i have to leave the air pump on? like does it do anything really? or can i just pull it off and plug the hole it's pumping air into? will this make any power difference (good or bad)? if all it does is emissions stuff then i'm not concerned because there really aren't any emissions regulations here....

so basically, do i have to leave the air pump on? or can i just pull it off?

thanks guys.

If you have all your emissions and cat's in place, you must have it. It's better just to keep it, you can buy a cheap filter at walmart for like $1.25 for that hose.

You can take off the airpump and block off the acv, it's a very common thing to do. Use the search feature, i can't stress it enough how well it will help new members.

You need to get an AFM adaptor.

The air pump is for emissions. Leave it on unless you gutted the cats or aren't running cats at all so that it doesn't kill it. If you take out the air pump, you'll need to wire the ports open.

If you do not block off the acv you'll have problems with backfiring.

Get an acv blocker plate, i've got a spare one somewhere that i'd have to find. I'll send it to you if you're willing to pay shipping. Or, racing beat sells them, they're inexpensive, but i'm warning you, do NOT use the bolts they will send you with it, they're very weak bolts and you will more than likely snap them off. It happened to me and i had to JB weld my blocker plate on.

I put a breather filter on mine as a temporary solution until I buy a turboback this week.
