Ahhh! Help. No Oil In Motor!

I went to check my oil today. The dipstick was hella dry.

Looked under car and.. there was a spot of oil where it dripped all night.

The oil is coming from the driver side. Bottom front of the engine.. oil cooler?

My oil cooler lines are OLD. SO im really hoping its just the oil cooler lines or the oil cooler itself. The bottom oil cooler line is hella wet with oil. Is there anywhere on the driver side, front bottom of the engine where it could leak oil from?

also my the driver side undercarriege is pretty wet almost all the way back to the Y split of the exhaust.

Has anyone had their oil lines go bad?

The oil cooler had oil on it from where the line leaks a little bit. But i never found it serious since my oil never got low. It is the bottom oil cooler line.

SO i layed under the car looking at everything covered in oil. I figured.. there is no way oil would have got to the oil cooler and the radiator under foam thingy, if it had come from somewhere alse. I think the bottom oil cooler line is guilty. I will be buying the corksport braided lines. I didnt realize they had em so cheap...=D

thanx dude.

I think its just a seal between the radiator and the front air-dam area... to improve air-pressure through the radiator. So air doesn't move AROUND it... Probably a good idea to have it... but, not a huge deal to NOT have it. Both of my FC's have it crumbling and falling out.

LOL! No kidding... that stuff sucks.

On my last 91 NA, I pulled it all out when I replaced my radiator and replaced it with foam rubber with adhesive backing... I got it from the hobby store, its blue, with a peel'n'stick backing. It was kind of expensive, and I found out later that you can get a black version of the same thing at some automotive stores and some home depots for WAY cheaper. But I don't think you even need to have it. Expecially if you have an E-Fan.

thanx dude.
I've heard reports of the CS lines not being high quality and the crimps failing. I was going to get some CS lines but decided to go with the RB lines.

-AN FTW.

Have fun installing the lines, and removing them for that matter.

Also, make sure you get new crush washers. Don't overtighten the banjo bolts, either. They're threading into aluminum, and it may crack, which would be real bad. Check the torque specs per the fsm. I wound up having to take the banjo bolt on my oil cooler off with an impact gun.

The SS braided lines are awesome, but are not very flexible (flexible enough...) and kind of take some energy to manipulate to get them installed.

Just an FYI.

Good luck, man.

James

I put my CS lines on a couple of weeks ago. No more leaks!!! I thought i put i final post with the solution to my problem.
so there ya guys go. it was my oil cooler lines. lines had 177,000 miles on them.

And yes... it was rather hard to get them on... just like the dude said.. they are no as felxible as the stockers so it becomes a problem.. but nothing impossilble.
