88 Vert Trunk Lid Q

I have 2 88 Verts sitting in my driveway - my old white on has S5 Pieces - dash, stereo surround/vent, shifter surround.

It's trunk stays open great.

The earlier red vert has S4 pieces everywhere, and it's trunk closes way too easily.

So, i figured I'd just swap trunk shocks and Ol' Red would have a good working trunk.

I did, but the red one still takes no pressure whatsoever to close!

Did Mazda make some trunk lids out of steel and some out of aluminum?

I know, I know, stick a magnet on it and see - I am going to do that now, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any other ideas.

I don't think there are springs on the hinges?

Karl

They are all steel and are all interchangable.

OK, but why does the white one stay open by itself, when I put my boot on top, and the red one doesn't no matter which set of trunk shocks I use?

I know red pait is probally heavier than white, but not THAT much heavier
