Why would you want to stay top mount?

Or functionality of everything stock...
Greddy has one. Mazdatrix I believe has that one in stock. Just go to google and search.
ARC has one too I think.

Not a good enough reason imo.

Got a link to that Greddy unit?

I've heard of an HKS tmic but I've only seen one. ARC makes one, but they're kinda hard to get ahold off.

i'm wondering if a subaru top mount could be made to work?

i can only assume they have a better efficeincy having 20 years new tech built into them.

anybody ever think about this? how about an aftermarket top mount for a subie, think it could be made to work?

Just throwing out ideas that pop into my head.

i also thought i heard the HKS is simply a stock unit, with something around the sides removed. i'm not 100% sure though

There's only a couple, and you'll have a better chance at finding a loose nun then you do finding one of these.

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/list-all-aftermarket-upgraded-tmic-intercooler-options-733850/

Theres the thread that was started a week ago to "list" all three lol

Yep I've seen it discussed before.

The effciency isn't a problem. It can be seen easily by a thermocouple before and after the stock I/C. A quick run up to 50-60mph and the temps drop right down.....but when you sit at a stop they just rise and rise and rise...and that would happen with any Air to air cooler mounted atop the engine. Function of placement more so then effciency.

I've always wondered, why not fan boost the topmount? You don't need that much airflow to prevent the heat soak.

Sure, but there's not much space. But by all means it would be helpful.

also - water to air top mount is a different story...........

=P

Id sell the top mount in favor of a fmic setup to fill my front bumper. But not sure if how the change in the setup would effect it..I like the top mount since its direct flow from teh turbo.. front mount intercoolers are faily cheap now..

yea reason y i want a aftermarket top mount is that i dont have to modify much to fit it in....where as in "some" fmic kits, you have to "modify" the front bumper to make it fit...also...you have to cut holes also for the piping....i would look down the cheap route..sourcing a cheap fmic and get a generic "intercooler piping" kit from ebay...but as all u guys know...u get what u pay for....but thats not wut i would like to do...thx for the input tho...great source of info for me...

ps...also....i like the fact of retards looking at the front of my bumper for an fmic and saying...."yea its not turbo".......until they get eaten up....lol
