UT Advice???

Hey guys

getting alot of play in rear wheel bearings so im thinking about changing all the wheel bearings front and back and just wondering whats the best bearing i can put on the FC? there is lots of brands so im looking for quality and performance

subject 2

Just bought a new clutch and installed it sometimes when i push in the clutch it will not engage master and slave cylinder are brand new clutch has about 300 miles on it and it grabs perfect just sometimes wont engage at all so ill push in the the clutch a couple times or hold it for a min. and then it engages

No idea on the wheel bearings.

The clutch issue sounds more like the transmission to me.. Mine will grind sometimes if I try to clutch and go straight into reverse.

yeah I'm betting the no-engage issue is due to worn synchros. a friend of mine suggested while keeping the clutch pedal down to engage 3rd gear then engage reverse. I have this issue, too, and the 3rd to reverse works a lot of the time. eventually I'll rebuild the trans.

for bearings I'd just go to a parts store and buy something that isn't the cheapest. my opinion is that if you go to a reputable store it's kinda hard to go wrong with bearings. they're a relatively simple part designed to take a lot of abuse over long periods of time, probably more important than what brand you buy is how you install them.

well i dout the trans is bad it only has 35k on it and there is no grinding when the clutch is cold it works fine when it heats up its like the Disc plate sticks to the flywheel and pressure plate.

Was there anything actually wrong with the parts you replaced?

Describe your shifting issue more clearly please.

the same as any other wheel bearing i would assume? they got the bearing, the race, and a seal. you remove the old one (fun stuff on the front hubs) then pack and install the new ones. then you drive around feeling better cuz one less thing on your car is 20+ years old.

ok so its not when you shift, its just when you engage the clutch to put in first or reverse. you can feel and see that it starts to lag the engine. im starting to get some sound out of the clutch now, i get alittle bit of scatching sound. like the thro bearing is messed up and you can hear the sound of the bearings grinding. but as for shifting it shifts perfect as long as your moving but when you have to start its like when the clutch is pushed in it doesnt engage? but its not all the time. also its really bad after i have been driving on the freeway or long period of time?

yes, but i had a bit of a vibration that would show up around 45+mph and under certain load/cornering conditions. other than that going away i haven't really noticed any difference.
