Adding cruise control - turbo vs non-turbo

I have a 1991 rx7 that I'm adding cruise to, and I've run into issues. I have a turbo actuator, but after research it looks like I have a non-turbo computer. Everything I've seen says that you just need to match up the series, but for the S5 they clearly have different part numbers for turbo or NA. Is that right?

Next question - I have a turbo , so I'd like to keep the turbo actuator, but all of the control modules I find are the same model that I have, which appears to not be right. I've seen from someone that the NA actuator worked on his turbo car, but I know mine gets into boost with even minor acceleration, so wouldn't that throw it off?

pretty sure the turbo is a stepper motor and not vacuum operated like the NA, so i would expect it to be different

I thought they were the same on my old s4, but I just pulled the catalog and they are different on that as well. The vacuum actuator uses 9V, electronic uses 12V, so that really does make sense. Annoyed because I haven't seen anywhere else that this is the case, and I've wasted many hours on this, but life goes on.

On to the now - does anyone have experience with using the vacuum actuator on a turbo car? I've found very little on other people doing it, and there weren't a lot of details on how it actually worked, apart from stating that the electronic one worked better.

i'd think it would be ok, you might need to put a check valve in the hose so that the thing doesn't see boost though

My old '88 GTU (RIP) had the vacuum system retrofitted from a GXL. I had no problems with it. My '88 T2 had factory cruise, and on the stock turbo with bolt ons it would overshoot/surge in speed. On a much bigger turbo (oldschool 60-1) it actually did a better job because it spooled a lot slower.

You can certainly try to make an n/a system work, but remember, if Mazda thought they could get away with a check valve instead of a completely different actuator for the turbo cars they probably would have done it.
