Whats wrong NVCONVERTIBLE. He means the ones over there behind the doohicky thingamabob. joking, please. The answer is.........no. The feed pipe is located to the left of the rear actuator. It feeds a hole in the mounting base of the actuators. Take 'em off and you will see the hole for each one. Can you push down on the actuators link and make them retreat into the actuators??????? Each one?????? If you take a shop hose with low pressure and offer it up to the feed pipe, located just aft of the rear actuator, do any of the actuators retreat. ............and if you are not talking about the auxillary actuators, your making me look bad. If you can't find the metal pipe with the vac looking hose on it, let me know and I'll try to find a picture.

Reference to NZCONVERTIBLE'S *Pet forum hate numero uno: not enough info!* I'd like to add *not enough feedback to see what did fix the problem the original poster, posted*. With no feedback we can't figure out what works to fix problems. Chadder, there is a free factory service manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com its a free download. Its possible to just download the chapters that you are interested in and leave the rest. Those actuators can be made to work as original. Have a good day.

6-port test
For those with series 4 N/A's, the port actuators pull to open, and only under high load (exhaust backpressure).
To test them, I teed in a pressure gage and blew into the tube to check at what pressure they opened. Then I routed the tube inside the car with the gage on the end, and did a test drive to see when they opened.
To see the performance difference, I teed a “mity-vac” hand pump in the tube near the guage, then did some low end a 3rd gear pulls from 1500 to 3500 rpm. The time was more than 1 second faster with the ports closed.

Hey Brando, you see that small extension above the Small vac line int he mid-right. There is supposed to be soem kind of wires going into there, they are hell in place by some Glue. I got my car with them already beign riped off, bu thte other end was still there hanging, but I never fixed it, sice I removed the ACV and Actuators.

Does anyoen know what those wires are for?

Both the PORT AIR SOLENOID on the right on the acv and the SPLIT AIR SOLENOID to the left on the acv, on Brandon's car have their solenoid wires severed. I think thats what Anderson is asking. The port air solenoid, on the right can be corrected by unscrewing the solenoid and removing the plunger and spring. This solenoid is pulled in anytime the car has the key to *on*, IF your car has more than 20,000 miles. If your car is under 20,000 miles you might want to wait until your car reaches that milestone. The Split Air should be fixed. It is opened anytime your in fifth gear. There is still air going to the split air pipe even if this valve never opens, but it gives additional air to the split air pipe when in fifth. Thats my understanding of the split air solenoid located on the acv.

i was told if you totally remove the sleeve from the actuator it adds alot more top end...i don't have an impact screwdriver and i can't get the screws out. but it will be done this weekend with posts on the results.

I think you mean Removing he Sleeve from the Intake Manifold. The actuators are what Open the sleves.

And I doubt it will add no more hp that removing an AC belt. (Yes I knwo removing belts only FREE up used power, but yo uknow what I mean)

From what I've heard, its a pain to remove the actual sleves, and shoudl only be done in 2 coditions:
1. If yo uhve ALREADY made the mistake of removign the actuators like many of us already have.

2. If you HAVE to remove the upper Intake Manifold for somethign else.

Othern than that an extra HP or 2 is not noticable, hence, not worth it.
