Is this acceptable?

Well I went cheap on exhaust and had it custom made. Here's the muffler I got. And just wanted to make sure it passed the anti rice laws.

Actually I got it new a month ago. It sounds really deep and isn't raspy at all considering its straight 2.5" pipe all the way (with a resonator in the middle)

Yes, it's already starting to scorch the bumper. It probably doesn't matter much, though.

Had a similair setup long time ago.. IMO the angle of the muffler bugs me to hell... That was on mine though... I'd get a full exhaust for better gains if you have the extra funds..

I will never go with a custom done exhaust ever again. But it also depends who makes it.

Go RB.

Higgi is right longer is a bit better - saves the bumper and might save you life. too shoort and fumes will enter the car at stops.

dont worry about the anti rice laws - they are applicable to decal sporting, neon light running youngsters.

lol i'm your rice guager?

From a street car point of view I would give it a 5 of 10(1 being not rice and 10 being gay rice) It looks like the muffler shop didn't do a proper job of making it point straight back like it should. The tip looks disproportionately large compared to the canister itself that always makes me thing rice but a large part of the rice judgement must come from sound. Given it sounds decent the rice rating would go down.

His signature says it's a GXL, in which case the exhaust is actually slightly large in general. However, the cat-back portion of the exhaust can be a bit larger than the primary tube(s) which should be closer to 2" OD on an NA.

In the case of a TII, a single 2.5" OD tube is good for about 300hp, which would cover the large majority of TII cars on this forum.

Angled single exhausts are designed that way to reduce bends and increase power (in theory). This is one of those new rice things that actually works somewhat. The large tip is also a popular thing right now.

yeah I know the purpose but this likely wasn't fabricated for that purpose. Given it was made by an exhaust shop( I think he said that) it is likely using crush or crimp bends which is killing what ever gain that angle would give him.

Damn I didn't even realize anyone replied to this thread. Yeah I thought the shop did a shitty job. I only paid them half because of it. In fact it was so shitty I'll show a pic. They wanted $300 for the job and when I saw it I told them I'm only going to pay for the muffler because it was poorly done.

And what else pissed me off is that they cut th eflange off my straight pipe and welded the crappy *** pipe on to it.

This is unfortunately common for cheap shops, they did the same to me, but all i wanted was a strait pipe.
