? about the AFM
I know the afm controls the opening circuit relay what else does it control?
I know mine is bad but i can start it up It'll run for like 3 secs then die. I do this for like 5 times then i have to pump the gas in order to keep it running. when I do keep it running I give it gas then it bogs down really bad. I can hold the throttle down about half way and it accelerates, doesn't accelerate, accelerates, doesnt. It will do this until i take my foot off the gas. Im going to check for intake leaks today but could there be anything else to check for?
oh yeah, the starting and dying only happens when it is cold. When it does warm up it starts fine, kinda hard but it starts

Don't wanna sidetrack your post but you mentioned something about coming to Colorado....
Its cool. If you hate Arizona you might like it here alot. I've lived here (boulder county) all my life so I'm pretty sick of it....But most if not all the people I know that move here from other places never go back.
I'd put you up, but I just moved out of my apartment back to the fams' house before I ship off to the Navy this fall.
Good luck with AFM.

I know there was a write up on what the conectors go to but I cannot seem to find. I think Ted or Hailers wrote this up. Any Ideas would be great Either with the AFM or the hard starting/throttle prob.

have you actually read out the AFM per the FSM? If you can start it & keep it running (albeit when it's warm), the AFM switch for the circuit opening relay ground MUST be good, unless you've jumpered the check connector...what about the other potentiometers inside the AFM?

I did jumper the wires and that is the only way the car runs. I opened the afm and found the the left two pins inside do not touch at all( with the flapper opened or close Also inside there is a piece that is connect to the circuit board by the fourth pin seems like it was soldered to the fifth pin. I really cannot tell if it was or should be but that solder peice is not connected at all.
Thanks alot Wayne for getting to me about this

The car only runs when it is jumpered. It also looks like the 3 middle connectors were not connected. The third looks like it was just sitting on the circuit boardnot even soldered down, the fourth connector looks like the solder broke and the pin is just lying on the board, the fifth looks as the fourth coonector. It almost looks like someone went in and re-soldered the pins to the board before, i could be wrong but the thing looks fubar, unless i can re-solder the pins back on. Is that at all possible. Thanks Wayne

well, if you can find a known good one at a reasonable price, go with that...I know a new one costs about as much as buying another rx-7 j/k...if all else fails, and you can figure out how to make the flapper door switch work again, try to repair it (post a good writeup on it, too)
