4 intake and you're right about the two exhaust ports...

If it's an NA 6port, you can technically call them 6 intake ports.

Nope, and it also depends!

If its a 12A\13B 4 port, then you have 4 intake ports and two exhaust ports.

If its a 13B 6 ports, then you have a total of 6 intake ports and two exaust ports.

If its a 13B 4 ports Renesis, you will have 4 intake ports and 4 exhaust ports.

If its a 13B 6 port Renesis, you will have 6 intake ports, and 4 exhaust ports.

Ah crap.
it's an 87 T2 so I assume it's a 4 port.
On one side of the housing is a larger port than the other side of the housing, but the template I have is the size of the larger one, I think I ordered the wrong damn template.

god damnit. I got the wrong template, I got a 4 port instead of a turbo. Can someone tell me how much larger to make the smaller ports? I'll just make my own damn template.
The large intake port is just made about 1/4" longer and rounded out a bit at the smaller end, is the other intake the same way?
No chance in hell I'm wasting another 50 bucks on templates.

the turbo is the 4 port

the na is the 6 port

If you have the 13B template from Mazdatrix\Racing Beat, you will ue it on the secondary intake ports. You should port the secondaries exactly the same as the template.

On the primaries is whole nother story, you do not want to match the lower part of the port as the one on the template. If you port the lower side of the port to match the template, you will hit the water jacket.

I have the racing beat 4 port template, but it's only got one intake template and not two like the mazdatrix turbo template, so I'll have to WAG the primary intake, or just not do it all together.

Are you saying I should just port the upper side (fat end) of the smaller primary intakes?

What do you mean by "only one intake template"?

You will use the same for all intake ports. And yes, on the primaries, port the intake to match the port on the template, however DO NOT PORT downwards.

here.
see how the turbo template has two different ports on it?

The template on the left is quite a bit smaller than the one on the right

this is the template I have, it's too big to do the ports on the center section

Do I just cut the smaller ports out to be the same size as the larger ones??

i guess racingbeat doesn't assume that people port the primary ports on a turbo. maybe that's y it's not on the template. the template you have is for the secondary ports only. you can't port the primaries the same as the secondaries because you'll grind into the water jacket and be screwed, and have to locate another iron housing. should have got the templates from mazdatrix. i see that they give you template for all 4 ports, not just the 2 secondaries.

some people say the RB and the mazdatrix are the same, I wasn't going to pay mazdatrix 50 bucks for the intake and another 20 for the exhaust.

YES, they are both the same!

The only problem with the primaries, is that you can't port downwards...

Take a look at this photos (not mine, I am having problems with my pics). Both ports have been ported with the same template (the same one you have), see how the width of the port is the same except for the lenght.

OK, that's what I did then. I used the same template for the secondaries, and just opened up the "fat" end of the smaller primaries. I hope to god the engine runs now
