I did a search, seems like a lot of s4's have done it, but don't post up one the specifics of what they did or pictures.

I want to buy the paint supplies to paint the moldings and maybe mirrors white.

Just wondering what white to use, noble or crystal white, this one website said that the noble whites nowadays are usually faded to an almost crystal white color.

And I was wondering if you guys could give me tips when painting, kind of not sure what I'm doing, this is what I know to buy:

aerosal cans of:
-primer
-paint
-clearcoat

3m double sided tape for side moldings




I don't want to do this blindly, what do I do for sanding? And since the stuff is plastic, should I buy the "plastic adhesive promoter" or just use the primer?

The only way your going to be able to determine a color match is to paint a scrap piece and compare to body. If the car has never been repainted, and paint in good condition, I'd try the body color first.

I did the trim, taillight surround, and aero molding white, using the best colormatched paint I could find at GI Joes (big auto/sporting store) It makes a world of difference even if it doesn't match perfectly. Don't bother taking off the molding to paint it, just get really close and make sure the masking tape is kind of in the crack where the body meets the molding. After you have the tape flush to the trim, slide some newspaper under it to protect your body from over-spray. Also, I'd try and cover your car as much as possible, maybe using a few old sheets, so that the paint doesn't dust up and stick to your car (not cool). Honestly this will be a vast improvement over the black trim (imo), It will really modernize the appearance. Also, when spraying, don't spray too much on each coat. The black will take a few coats before it starts really whitening up. Good luck, and share pics of the finished product. Note: Buy more cans than you need. You can always return them.
