91 Vert relocated from NY to VA
This was a long overdue trip to bring my 91 Vert from New York to Virginia. My goal was to drive the car down without any issues. In order for that to happen, there were a few obstacles and general maintenance that had to be done. My two biggest hurdles were in these 2 links https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...arity-1102713/ and https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...ooded-1102714/.
With those 2 problems solved (still need to repair the main CPU board), the car needed new tires on all corners and a NYS inspection. I ordered a set of 205/60R-15 Michelin Premier A/S tires from Tire Rack and had a local Firestone install them. Afterwards, the car passed its state inspection (after it expired for 1+yr).
Right before the trip, I noted an unusual under-voltage reading on the dash so the alternator was removed for testing at a local parts store. Sure enough, it failed the LED and regulator circuit tests. Once a new alternator and a new set of fan belts were installed, she was finally ready for the 400mi journey!
The drive was pleasant and once I reached my first checkpoint, the top came off. The car was fun to drive but the sun beat down across my neck. It was a good thing that I wore a hat! The car gave me ZERO issues all the way home. The only trouble I ran into was weather related. My goal was to run topless until the car was parked in the driveway. The weather changed for the worse just as I approached the Chesapeake Bridge-Tunnel. The drive over the bridge went well but after I exited the Thimble Shoals tube, rain started to hit the windscreen. I finally put the top up after crossing the Lesner Bridge (in Va Beach) then made it home without getting drenched!
Here are a couple of pics before the journey began in NY. Enjoy!

So today, I replaced the ATF since it was old, dirty, and overfilled. I posted this link https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...ranny-1104367/ for those who may be interested in changing their trans fluid.
Thank you all for reading the post and the brief story of this car's journey to its new home.

buddah,
the car has most of its original paint, but some panels were repainted when it was fairly young. The car belonged to my uncle and he took it to a dealer in NYC for some body work. One of his funny stories about taking the car to that specific shop - his car was parked next to Ferrari's awaiting body work. He was surprised to see that the shade of red was strikingly similar to the Ferrari of that era.
I recall one body shop that he took the car for some work: Hassell Auto Body, 390 NY-109, West Babylon, NY 11704.
They did an exceptional job matching paint. In fact, they also painted the rear wing on my FD and corrected some minor paint damage to the rear bumper of it (FD). That shop was referred to me by a Mazda tech in Wantagh, NY. He owned one of the most clean FB's I've ever seen! He used Hassell for any body/paint work.
