'91 N/A UIM Removal/Replacement HELP!
I've done searches and have had no luck finding the specifics I need. I'm looking for information or, better yet, instructions on the removal and replacement of the Upper Intake Manifold. Through my searches, I've been able to determine that it's "easy", but I have a fear of screwing something up on my daily driver. Can someone with knowledge about this please offer some steps on how to do this and include things to look out for, potential obstacles and how many gaskets will need to be replaced?
Thanks in advance.

That's a nice write-up, but what Attomica and I are really looking for are tips and hints for a simple swap of one UIM with another one that was just polished.
I'd like to know if there is an easy was to do this with out taking off the throttle body, but I suspect not. The polished UIM has a metal gasket on the bottom where it meets the lower manifold. Do I need to replace this gasket, and if so how the hell do I get the old one off. It's glued or something.

I thought he was talking swap here, sorry about that.
1) where did you get a metal UIM/LIM gasket?? 2) You have to take the TB off to get to the secondairy fuel rail bolts, if you just wanna pop off the lines, I'm sure you can leave it on (provided you've done the TB mod) 3) upon thinking of #1, that's probably just a REALLY baked on gasket. Either bust out some elbow grease, or get a heat gun and warm it up... usually comes off easier that way. Good luck.

To get to the exten manifold (UIM) you must remove the Snorkel, TB (cruise control line, throttle cable, vacc lines in back of TB, coolant lines in back of TB that go to the thermo wax), Then once the TB is off, depressurize the fule lines, and unhook the primary fuel line and rail. unbolt the UIM, I think 4 bolts and 2 nuts hold that on to the LIM, then there is one ling botl in the middel of the UIM, and 2 more on the side by the oil filler neck. Unhook the vacc lines to the UIM (dont forgett to label them all), and then siplly pull.
As for the gaskets, you can get a spay can called gasket remover at your local NAPA, then just strip it off with a scarper. Then use a wire brush attached to a drill to get the surfece nice and clean. New gasket is $5 at Mazda.
Attomica - I have a bunch of pix of my manifold removal job. They are at various stages of dissassembly. I'd be happy to send them on to you. Just PM me your e-mail address and get ready to get your inbox flodded.
good luck

A perusal of the FSM revealed that I'm concerned with the Dynamic Chamber, the component through which the Throttle Body feeds. I hope I haven't caused confusion with references to the Upper Intake Manifold...I'm not sure they're the same thing.
