91 N/A Turbo Swap Advice
New here and to rotary's. Had been looking for months for an import to fix up. Found a 91 rx-7 in great condition for 2,500 while searching for a 240 ha craiglist and keyword tags....anyways, stuck deployed in afghanistan doing route clearance making good money so im deciding to spend all of it before i get home....lol
this is my parts list i have so far. again, this is my first project car and have compiled by researching with what little time i have to use computers...funny it turned out to be a rotary.
13B-T Complete w/ 5speed flywheel,clutch and ecu w/ harness
Atkins Rotary Re-build Kit C $1245.00
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Koyo Radiator $317.12
NGK Spark Plug Wires $35.96
Street Port and polish
TurboII Hood
Corksport 80mm Downpipe w/ Custom Exhaust $160.00
HKS Megaflow intake
Racing Beat Turbo Fuel Cut Switch $117.00 (do i need this?)
Tune
...so how is this? got any ideas of stuff i need? trying to get everything together. contacted a dude about the jdm engine, his name is all over jdm swaps i searched on this forum. seems he is a good guy to get a motor from. anyways....??

I'm not positive but if ur gonna do a street port' (depending on how aggresive it is) you prolly are gonna want to get larger injectors. And with the racing beat fuel cut defender for almost 120 bucks, I'd say look into a low grade rtek, around that price but it does more for you. It will allow u to run larger injectors which is something I would suggest. And the rtek has the fuel cut defender function.

you forgot n370 ecu, n370 mass air flow meter, n370 map senor i have all for sale if you want pm me
the jspec ecu wont fire your rear rotor injectors, and you need to use your na harness it will make the swap alot easier and you only have to change 2 conectors

if your going to get a bigger turbo and want alot more power later, you could go ahead and get a full stand alone
, i would go will haltec e8 or the new one is platum or something like that and the are plug and play and use facotry sensors and harness

if you go will with a standalone you wont need the fuel cut
oh and you need to port your waste gate it will be way easier while the engine is out your car
go to fc3spro.com for a write up on how to do it

well it depends on the power you will be creating, if im not mistaken , the stock injectors are almost maxed out at stock horse power, ( so ive heard) and if your injectors are maxed out and you run more air into the engine, via streetport or larger turbo, you will not have enough fuel and start running lean which will detonate your engine. id do it just as a fail safe. plus the injectors arent exactly easy to get at, you might as well do it while its available.

cool. for my first build this is scary as **** cuz i keep hearing detonation is such a huge deal. im afraid i will be throwing 5 grand down the drain if one sensor fails or something stupid like that...anyways, i can keep my stock rear end and get a mazdatrix driveshaft right? should be able to handle it i would think? thanks for your help to, this is the best vehicle specific forum i have ever been on.

the rearend will hold and the mazdatrix drive shaft is really good i used it in my swap
dtonation is a big deal in a rotray but as long as you use all he n370 sensors and plug in the wireing to the right connectors you shouldnt have to wory about anything
but you better port the waste gate or the first cold night you drive it hard could blow it, i learnd from experience and thats how i blew my first engine
im not trying to scare you just giving you advice

@89fc3sgtu: I just dropped in a t2 over the weekend. Witnessing the front rotors running only. It was a N374 ecu i have right now. Would like to pickup the N370 ecu from you. Shoot me a message. Thanks!
