Thumbs down '89 Vert Check Engine Light flickering?

On my way to work this morning I noticed something a bit off...

when I go over about 30% throttle my check engine light was turning on and at times flickering. in neutral, if I blip the throttle over the same point it flickers as well. it DOES NOT activate when the car is not running and the key in in the "on" position.

it doesnt hesitate or make any noises. it runs completely like normal; or at least as normal as any car when it's -5degrees outside

the car has 140k on it. the entire long block is factory fresh with only 15k (100% stock)

What could cause this to happen? I have noticed it happening a few times in the last couple weeks.

Thanks in advance guys!

I had one that did that after a rebuild too. But it turnrd out thsat it was the TPS it just needed to be adjusted. Look in your FSM to learn how, its not hard at all.

FSM? (Field Service Manual?) I assume

TPS was the first thing that popped into my head as well... especially because it does it the instant I blip it w/o hesitation.

5-1 odds say it's the pressure sensor. You probably don't have the restrictor pill in the line, or need a new sensor.

Pull the ECU codes and that'll tell you what it is.

I have the problem when the car is cold (and it's cold outside), but if the issue is when it's WARM, then it could be the TPS like everyone else says.

The vacuum sensor is the little box with the hose attached to it, on the right-side shock tower. There should be a little plastic pill somewhere in that line, and if you replaced the vacuum hose, you probably forgot the pill.

I haven't touched anything under the hood yet. And it hasn't done it before the last week or so.

I'll check it out when I get home.

Will I even be able to pull a code for it? it doesnt seem like a stored code since it's only a flash and only when I go heavy on the gas.

yes, it'll probably be in there (until you reset the ECU, or fix the problem).
