I'm not too worry about either the mounts or the FMIC anymore really. The mounts will workout fine, they won't be torqued down until the motor is in place and lined up correctly.

The FMIC is just going to take some work, it's all custom and I haven't done anything like it so there's no way around that. I'm kinda winging it, using some pics from the forum as a guide but thats all. This whole thing a learning process.

I am supposed to be getting another cool upgrade tomorrow, but I won't say what until I have pics, but I'm happy with the find.

I'll keep posting.

Talking It has arrived!!!!

ok so here's what I've been waiting for:

I really think this is the best looking spoiler I have ever seen on an RX7 and I love thats it's stock. No giant wing for my TII, just this duck bill which I think is teh sex for sure. I got it from JDriftM on here and it was a great transaction, awesome price shipped to my door and it's in perfect shape.

Im all right now. sorry for the quality of the pic but it was hard to get a good focus for some reason, i'll take better ones once it's on the car.

Hey thanks!

I decided to change the engine bay paint slightly, you can see the newer color on the left left side of this pic:

Just a bit nicer if you ask me. I'm just about to drop the motor/trans back in and start putting it all back together.

Turkey day progress

So I got up at 8am today even though i didn't have to work, changed the oil in my Volvo S60, and then set to work on the RX7:

Finished engine bay paint:

And then I dropped the engine/tranny back in:

Put the tail right on a rolling jack under the car and let it slide back, then lifted it right up to the mounts and bolted that sucker in:

More pics:

It all went well if you ask me. Sooner or later I'm gonna bolt the turbo on, the mani's, put the fuel, oil, coolant and electrical back together, finish the FMIC, the AFx will be installed.....blah blah blah

What do you guys think so far??

I just went and picked up the turbo this morning from 95nracer on here, nice guy and nice FC, and the turbo looks to be in great condition, even hot the SS oil feed line and some couplers, I'm on my way outside right now to bolt it up and redo the fuel system. We're getting there.

Talking More Progress....

So I installed the new OMP lines, the new Oil Injector Vac Spider, the thermo wax hose, new oem thermostat, the vac lines and the 720's w/ all new o-rings, grommets, etc., the fuel rails and all new fuel lines, also mocked up the turbo and UIM/TB:

I still need hose clamps for the fuel line and one bolt for a fuel rail but otherwise we're pretty much smooth sailing. I will not be needing the twin scroll solenoid as my new BNR has had the twin scroll removed. and I'm going to run the FPR without it's solenoid for now.

I'd like to hear what you guys think, I'm open to ideas, comments so let me know....

Looks fantastic. Also are you planning on using the original heat shields for the turbo?....not only does it help keep LIM and air temps down but it also helps keep heat in the turbine housing where it can further act upon the turbine blades.

I will be using a turbo blanket type thing, as my old heat shields are non existent. Actually I was thinking of wrapping a few things with heat protective wrap, like the fuel lines right on top of the motor, I have a Self-Fusing High Heat Engine Harness Wrap that is good for 500* that I will be using for the wiring as well.

I'm off to do the remaining parts of the purge system, charcoal canister, pressure sensor and boost gauge. Maybe we'll get to the wiring today.

Im running the Rtek7 2.0 ECU which is awesome cause it uses the stock ECU housign and harness and all it's sensors but has the ability to tune fuel and timing and allows me to run the 720's with no more than 1 click.

I just bought my NGK A/Fx for tuning and wide band monitoring as well. Welding the bung into my Racing Beat downpipe will be my first welding project on something that actually matters, so I am excited about that too.

I'm planning on running the stock boost levels to start until I get my Greddy profec then it'll go to 10psi.

You're gonna love the extra power kick once you get it all dialed in. Your FMIC looks good too. They're a beyotch to put in, but worth it.

Today

Today I actually mounted and connected the coolant and oil for the BNR turbo, and after putting it on and taking it off a couple times today, for various stupid reasons, I could easily remove this turbo with my eyes closed, though my back hurts from leaning over so long...hahaha.

All the fuel lines got hose clamps and then I decided to start on the electrical with the fuel system. So the small engine harness on the passenger's side was rerouted and hooked up. Then the big *** harness on the drivers side was put back in.

I was pleasantly surprised at how the harnesses went back in, I still have just a bit more to do: have to still secure the big harness across the front to the passenger's side light.

It's coming along but i didn't get a chance to do the purge valve and charcoal canister, nor the boost gauge. soon though, soon.

Maybe, but probably not this time around, the paint is fine on them, I'll clean em up with some soap and water and that'll probably be it for now. At some point I plan on doing this all over again and I'm gonna spray the whole car then (with a gun).

do you think it looks too weird like this? it does look a bit unfinished huh?

Yeah just a bit. You have spent so much time with all the other details that turned out very nice. You must have gotten the "itch" to stuff your engine back in the bay and move along haha.

actually thats just the way I taped it off from the get go. I just wanted to remove the rust and peeling paint fromt he bay, the rad support and firewall are kind of seprated and the paint was fine on them so I didn't worry about it. I'll probably clean em up, mask em off and just spray over the red paint at this point.

And yeah, I'm itching to get this thing going again. It's been too long without boost, well the Volvo doesn't count here, I need rotary boost.

So, I got my wideband O2 monitor

I went with the NGK A/Fx as I have always had good experience with NGK products. These go for $250-300 all the time on Ebay, but I was lucky enough to find mine for under $200 in a random auction from some guy that races snowmobiles.

Here she is:

Simple enough for me and it'll put me at ease when dialing in the fuel map for the BNR. Any guidelines for tuning with a BNR Stg 1 would be great, I have to read up on it but if any of you guys have guidlelines for AFR at idle, under cruisin and boost I would appreciate it.

Wow excellent find!....if you had a Megasquirt I could help with your maps, but I don't have Rtek experience.
