87 NonTurbo Need Help
87 NonTurbo Need Help
Alright this may be a retarded questioon but I have searched header and look at all the results and looked in the archives and didn't see anythig that per-tained to my questions so a little guidance will be helpful
My Brother has a 87 GXL non Turbo 5-speed I just put a Racing beat Header and Pre-Slilencer and SS Auto Chrome Dual Exhaust on it
Removed the air pump and blocked the AIV or something(I foget now) on the side of the block with the part sup[plied with the header
Now we can start the car and it will rev-up for a couple of seconds and die, When the car is running it will rev freely but it will die at any rpm, Like the computer is turning the car off. We also put a new O2 sensor reset the computer if there were any codes and still does the same thing. We have the tube off the slincer hooked up as well
Also have a hic-up in it on Acc is this the grounding probelm? What are the best grounds to re do to get rid of it
Thanks

say again? wha? OK. You bought a racing beat exhaust. Now I know it comes with block-off plates for the secondary injection system (injects air into the cat for better E). Now you say there is a hiccup? Maybe because you didnt remove the ACV and block it off (not sure if the RB kit comes with the block-off plate for that, but assuming you meant ACV then ---->). Hmm, are you sure it isnt the AFM falsely reading? Might be an air leak. Another thing irrelevant now but something to consider is the 5th and 6th port (search it and have a ball). Anyway, if it aint running now, then something you did changed something, go over your work, make SURE everything is hooked up.

No it doesn't run at all now. It will start up and rev up like normal, It will run for a few seconds and die. I think the plate is for the secondary injection cause it roved the part that is hooked up to the Air Pump, Removed the air pump and plugged the intake box where the hose went to the air pump. I will look about the ACV and remove it if it hasn't been yet. I will also check the 5-6th port and read tonight.
The hiccup i'm talking happens about 35oo and read on here that it could be a grounding problem and was wondering where the best spot to ground is at
Thanks
Sorry about the confusion
