87 Gxl (non-turbo)i Need More Hp

I HAVE A 87GXL W/ 70K ORIGINAL MINT CONDITION. I ORIGINALLY WANTED A TURBO, BUT COULDN'T FIND ONE IN GOOD SHAPE. EVERYTHING IS STOCK AND I'M LOOKING FOR SOME FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO BOOST H.P. AND PERFORMANCE. ANY INPUT FOR EXHAUST, PLUGS, PLUG WIRES, COLD AIR INTAKE, AND POSSIBLY A NEW CHIP. I AM ALSO THINKING ABOUT REPLACING THE STOCK CAT. CONVERTER. I KNOW THE ORIGINAL MAZDA STOCK CATS ARE AROUND 1200.

Get a hi-flow cat from the store a cone adapter also and a k&n filter from atozone. get an RB header and a good cat-back all the guys here seem to like the Apexi N1's stock plugs are fine but get some good wires like the ones at rx7.com two guys on here sell cold air boxes for like 50 - 75 bux. DO not buy one of the "chips" from e-bay they will do nothing or you will loose HP and it might pop your engine as the people that sell them don't know **** about our cars. If you want to get some peformance looke for a com[any to reprogram your stock computer.

Welcom by the way

Seriously, I am looking at duals for mine this year. Also, who sells those cold air boxes? It would save me from having to make my own!

well I think he has to pass emmisions in Illinois so I did not bother. I have to check the guys user name on my buddy list I will edit this post and put it on here.

Well I still think that the DUALS rock!!!! Just not everyone agrees with me. Oh and as a side note I finaly saw some flames from my Duals Wankel7(James) drove my car for a bit and just as he took off I save two small blueish flames from both tips they were only about a foot long though but I was having to pick up my jaw for a while.

EDIT
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/member...fo&userid=8353 rx-7fc is the guys user name. I still have not recieved mine though he should be shipping them soon I hope. There is another guy that sells templates to make them out of metal but I like this one since it is made from CF or fiberglass.

he also said affordable or cheap ways to increase HP which means he ain't going to put up 1300 plus USD for and exhaust like I did. I was willing to spend that much and I would do it again if my other 7 would work. I strongly recomend the DUALS to all people but no one wants to spend the cash or they want a single(gay on FC's) I hope you are able to buy your duals you will love them.

As for more HP mods that are easy:

Pineapple Racing sleeves- ~50

Free Flowing Exhaust (from headers to mufflesr) will be around- ~1000 more or less depending on what components you actually buy.

Intake adpter- ~35 shipped from the store
K&N filter from local parts store ~49.99(autozone)

removing accesories and lightening car FREE worth maybe 5HP if you remove all the stuff

Ported intake- It will depned on what you have to buy to port it yourself or what you pay someone to do it. I bout a dremil for around 45 bux with the right tool for the grinding and shaping of the intake. I don't know how myc HP tha will ner you though.

I can't think of any other bolt-ons right now others will fill in the gaps I left.

Well Ill tell you the average FC owner will get 140rwp with his N/A engine !!! Ask yourself if this is good for you. IF so then 1000 or more will be justifyable I guess.

I made 158rwp or mabey over 160rwp since I did more mods after the dyno but this took more time than an average person would want to do. Also it wont pass smog but it was still cheap...I spent 1700 totall To get that on stock ports.

Is 140rwp (streetlegal stock ports ) good enoughf for you???

I am planning on yanking the PS & AC, doing some exhaust work, but the first change I'd like to make is the air filter. above post recommended

"Intake adpter- ~35 shipped from the store
K&N filter from local parts store ~49.99(autozone)"

does anyone have any experience with adapters from ebay? with ship they can be had for about 15 bucks, and filters for maybe 20. Dont think they are name brand filters though. I have a flat K & N filter in now, and will most likely get a K & N cone, but can I save on the adapter?
