86 rx7 aux port question

So the point of the Aux ports is that at higher rpms it lets more air in through from the usage of the air pump and the actuators. So that being said my question is without the air pump is there a point in having the actuators and the aux port sleeves in the intake? Will it all function the same without the air pump being present? Should i block it off/remove the actuators and sleeves? The reason im asking is because i have a 88 engine in my rx7 now which has external work and 2 things being no air pump and the 6th port wedges so i dont want those to be in there if it will not do anything or just make it harder for the air to get in. Thanks for the help guys.

ok well from what I understand aux ports use back pressure from the exhaust to open.you can also just zip tie these open but you lose some performance at low rpm. these aux ports add about 25hp when working properly, so try to get them open.

oh yeah i forgot about that i even made a custom presilencer with the breather for the back pressure just for them. I believe that they do open but i just want to make sure since i know the air pump helps as well. Thanks

If you have an '86 RX-7 the air pump has absolutely nothing to do with them. The '89-'91 cars open them off of the air pump.

if you want to see if they are opening just put some grease on the base of the shaft on the aux port, if it smears onto the shaft then they are opening. make sure you clean it up after because the grease will grab dirt and seize them up on you. or just zip tie them open, then you know for sure.

So then the acutators are only activated by the back pressure alone so basically getting rid of the air pump wont affect the performance of them?
