86 N/A S4 . . . .Mass airflow meter rebuild
Anybody ever take a mass airflow meter apart and rebuild it?
I assume it's possible but requires tools.
Thanks. . .

there isn't much in there really, just a board and a wiper.

I have taken it apart, but it's not really rebuildable. They're fairly reliable.
You can disassemble by removing the two screws on the connector and then cutting though the epoxy around the black top part and exposing the inside.
Mine had an obvious problem (broken solders) but it didn't want to take the new solder for some reason. I ended up using a used unit instead. It's a very simple design that can't really go bad otherwise.
For this reason, I recommend not opening it. You can bench test it using the procedure in the FSM.
