Rebuild cost?

I was just pricing rebuild kits, and was suprised at how expensive they were. I know people like hypntyz7 and a few other offer rebuild services for ~$1000, and thats about the price of the rebuild kits themselves that I am seeing. I checked RB, mazdatrix, Atkins, they were all about $1000. I was planning on doing the rebuild myself, one to learn stuff, and 2 to save a little money. But as it looks now I might as well just take it somewhere. Can someone lead me to less expensive rebuild kits? Also, Im using S4 housings with S5 rotors, which kit would I need, the 86-88 or 89-91? Thanks

I believe atkins rotary has rebuild kits on ebay all the time that are the cheapest around. Just remember someone saying that on here, never really looked myself. Just a suggestion.

well if you don't have the hook ups like me then yeah its better for someone else to rebuild it for ya.....I have the hookups at www.mazdamotorsports.com if you race your car in a sanctioned event more than 2 times a year you qualify for an acount, meaning racing in autocross ect, I don't belive regular drag racing counts, they are like 70% cheaper than the dealer and like 30% cheaper than atkins, but if you have know experience I wouldn't reccomed rebuilding it for the first time...unless your like (mechanical geinuss, j/k) you must have deication this is the first rebuild I have done and its running strong!!

While Ive never rebuilt a rotary before, I have taken apart my share of engines. Im sure I am fully capable of rebuilding myself.
