Oil Temps on an FC T2 roadcar
Hi Lads,
What kind of oil temps are you generally seeing on a FC turbo 2 standard enough car bar a big radiator.
Im seeing 85 - 90 degrees on easy driving up around 55 -60 mph and will hit up around 100 degrees doing 70-75mph.
I changed the oil cooler thermostat as it was an easy/obvious swap. The oil cooler gets warm .
Swapped the aftermarket gauge sensors on the water temp to oil temp gauges to rule out the gauges being faulty/misreading but the high oil temp reading moved to the opposite gauge.
engine starts on the button both hot and cold.

140 Celsius should be your max.
Havent driven mine hard for quiet a while now so not sure. It will go over a 100 though.
Normal street driving for me is 80-90ish I believe. With dual oil coolers no Tstat

im not running overly hot so.
Been chatting with other owner who say the fact ive no under tray is definitely not helping. So im going to sort an under tray and top cooling panel so i can direct air flow better.

The under tray and cooling panels on our cars are very important, but also look and see if the stock foam has deteriorated. There should be some sealing the bottom of the rad, I believe the oil cooler as well, and then the rad on the drivers side by the battery. I don't believe there is foam on the passenger side from the factory, but could be wrong.
Obviously the bottom foam isn't functional right now anyways with no undertray, but since you're in there it's worth taking a look. Regular door sealing adhesive foam works to replace it.

I will save ive seen little difference between under tray on or off on my Tii. Car is stock turbo and stock intercooler, full exhaust, corksport intake, megasquirt, stock oil cooler(with RB lines) and Koyo Nflo radiator(stock fan). Just driving in the summer the oil temps are around 90-95c driving in in traffic around here when ambient temps are around 31-36c. Under hard mountain driving uphill(in boost a lot) the most i really see is 104C. I would honestly just try to keep the oil under 115c, remember the oil is part of the cooling system of these engines.

Having every piece where it should be is what gives us the peace of mind when we come to a sudden stop after driving the car hard with the AC on on a hot sunny day.
The foam and panels are also one of the multitude of parts that frequently go missing or unreplaced on these cars because they "didn't matter" to the previous owners, just like the BAC valve, the charcoal canister, the fan shroud, etc. When in reality they very much matter especially as they work in concert with all the other parts.

I've been to Ireland... you guys have very cool weather even in the summer, I wouldn't worry about it unless it's regularly going over say 110C. When I lived in North Carolina it was frequently 35C outside and humid, but my Turbo II's oil temps never went over 105C in normal street driving, even with a front mount intercooler.

. the weather here can be fairly wet alot of the time ,but we got a nice enough summer this year so had the vert out a good bit.Ive went and bought the LRB speed cooling panel and the under tray. See how that goes .
