720cc injectors without AFM or Rtek?

can i do this or will my car not run correctly? Pocketloggers website says something about not being able to use 720cc injectors without an AFM or Rtek and i wanted to make sure before i tried to install them without my RTEK...

pretty...

Bottom line--no.

To use 720's (as secondaries I presume) you need one of the following:

1) Rtek 1.7 with the AFM

2) Stock ECU with SAFC (or equivalent) and an AFM

3) Standalone ECU

Only the standalone can work properly without the AFM.

well actually you can use them with the stock ecu, but the car will run too rich. i also should note those injectores are for an s5 vehicle which has differnet injector clips, those wont plug into your harnes unless you cut off the old clip and install the correct clip!!

You keep mentioning the "AFM" but are you sure you know what you're talking about? What do you mean "ill have to get one of THOSE now too" exactly? If your car has stock ECU and junk, and your car runs, you already HAVE the AFM.

I just went to the site, are you mistaking "AFM" for "AFC" by chance? An AFC is a piggy back fuel controller. What the site is saying is that if you have a fuel controller currently with the stock ECU to tune/compensate for the larger 720cc secondary injectors, after getting the rtek 1.7 you will no longer need to use the AFC. It also says you can, but it is not required.

woah...sorry yeah i meant an AFC the whole time....not AFM. i was thinking Air Fuel Managment not Air Fuel Controller...sorry about that....

so my real question is can i install my injectors without an AFC? will my car run really rich since the ECU thinks it is using 550's?

yes the car will run rich,it should still drive ok though, when you go above 3800 rpm under load the secondarys will kick in then it will run overly rich

so below 3800 car will drive fine.

They will work, but it's likely you will run too rich when they come online. You need somethingto control then (ie. S-AFC). Could just turn the boost up until it's not rich though...that's a JOKE.

haha sounds good...do you want my car to blow up? Ill just wait until my RTEK to come in to install my injectors and make it easier. not that i can go above 3800rpm anyways....by then i can spool WAY too high...stupid fuel cut.

the alignment pin is just a foolproof to differentiate between low and high impedence vehicles, otherwise the injectors are all the same. just cut off the alignment pin and they work in either S4 or S5 so long as the resistors are used when necessary.

all i did was shaved the center piece on the injector and wired in resistors instead of putting the s5 clip on the harness. i also wired the resistors by the ecu not in the engine bay.

Well I would think it is obvious that I was joking considering I actually added the words "....that's a JOKE" to the end of my statement.
