6-ports, do you really need them?
I'm in the middle of removing my emissions from my 91" GXL, and as with any project I ran into a snag. While removing my acv I realized my 6-port actuators were frozen, the connecting arms to the cylinders were locked up inside the exhaust housing. My thoughts on this are, do those cylinders even need to stay or can you open those ports completely and remove the cylinders. Or if that's not an option any ideas about the best method to trigger the 6 ports once the acv is removed. I've run across many options but not sure which one to go with.

If you want a good idle or low-end power ( below 4K) make them functional, if you want ultimate power and simplicity you can remove them. I removed them, but I think I should have kept them in for a more solid idle and low-end power for street cruising.

probably will end up tearing down my 90' GTU for the parts, and bypassing the acv by running the lines of the cat.'s return line, seems to be the easiest but the the best option

No I still have my BAC valve, but if I unplug it from the wiring harness, nothing changes. I replaced mine with another one that I cleaned but still no difference. Some stupid wiring problem.
If you want to know what its like, hold the ports open while the car is idling and see if its ok.

yeah that would make a lot of sense I guess. may try that once the car's back in one peice. I'll probably end up replacing them with the actuators from my other car at this point, getting to car to run properly once all my emissions are removed is my main concern right now. And of course getting it back together mahahaha

I heard about the electronic open and thinking of it never heard about it again either, there was a thread about it but I can't seem to find it that had about 4 or 5 different options. I'd really like to take them out and see how it does but I'm not sure I wanta go back and do all the work if it ends up being a bad decision lol

I have two air pumps now LMAO since I've torn apart my 90' for parts and hopefully won't need them but we'll see tomorrow when I get the engine back together, needless to say it's in lots of peices, remind me to smack my friend who said it would be easy to remove the emissions. but as far as the airpump, nothing's free in life........

I used to use the airpump outlet into a bleed fitting, and depending on when I want to open them I add more bleeding holes to change how early or late it opens. For 84-88 cars I think it opens way too late, but 89-91 cars I think factory is great. Other source of actuation besides the air pump...... Don't know one that work good and easy.
