6 Port Turbo Vert Questions

I am finishing up my 6 port TURBO setup and it is nearly ready to install along with the fresher motor. I am going to list everything I have and make sure I am well covered, if there is ANYTHING you see missing from this list PLEASE post what else I am going to need. Thanks

Current Mod list:

Lower Milage Good compression 6 Port 13B
S4 Turbo 2 upper/ lower intake manifolds milled and modified along with blockoffs Port matched to form with 6 port block
S4 Turbo 2 Throttle body
S4 Turbo/wategate (minimal shaft play)
S4 TMIC reay to mount up front
S4 T2 front cover w/omp
Waterlines re-routed from intake cavities
Efan as well as clutch mounted
S4 downpipe
NEW 13b N/A clutch
17" Gunmetal Exel MIMI wheels 35mm offset sit flush and have a fat lip

Well that is about all I have right now, is there anything I am missing? So far the setup including the motor has only cost me $350 the intercooler may be upgraded as a friend of mine found a site selling the intercooler and piping for FMIC for $250. I figure a boost gauge and Air fuel ratio guage may be needed (duh) but other then that it shouldbe done for under $700. I bought 2 N1 style fart cans and the piping from the front will run about $100.

So anything else before I stick this motor in here? BTW I know 6 port isn't the best idea in the world but I will be ordering a J-spec in the summer of 06 and needed this setup to get me through the next autox season.

Injectors?
Fuel pump?
Fuel controller?

Also the NA clutch is weak. You should have an upgraded clutch. Mine lasted about 3 months...

I have seen a couple setups that utilized the Stock pump, and injectors, I have 2 extra injectors from a turbo I sold a while ago. Fuel Controler..hmm any ideas on that?

I'd personally never use n/a pump and injectors on a turbo application... Think about it, the stock TII with lower compression and less port area used 4x550cc injectors and a higher flowing pump, so why would it make sense on a turbo'd n/a to keep the n/a injectors?

As far as fuel controller, an Apexi s-afc is an easy one to use.

I still have a T2 pump, It probably wouldn't hurt to use it.

I have been using my NA clutch since my TII swap and it has been holding up great Trevor. I am sure dropping the clutch from high RPM's will make it slip, but thats a no no anyway on the NA driveline.

I want to see this vert man! It sounds sweet.

You know those vert wheels would be perfect on my FC.

No it wont hurt anything to use the T2 pump but it will hurt something to not use it. Also you said 700 more $ and mentioned a AFR gauge but a Wide band gauge will run you that +++ alone so I take you are betting on a narrow band and that will not be tunable. As far as fuel controller either use a TII ECU with a TII PS and AFM or use a SAFC,MS-Nspark,E-manage for budgeted applications.

Ordering a JDM motor is in no way any bettor then turboing your 6pi

I've made 166whp with 440s @ 25psi and 12:1 afr on a stock port NA 6-port with S5 electronics. If you have any kind of decent fuel control that allows you to alter on time a set of 440s can get you 200whp at stock fuel pressures without issue. How much power you shooting for?

I am not really looking for a HP #, I really am just trying to make up the extra loss in speed from the cumbersome Vert's extra wieght, and translate that into a competitive drop top to autocross in........ not looking for Serious power just a little more pickup with the Snail strapped to the side... HP means little to me, the torque is where it's at.. Hence the 6 port motor's higher compression, I need acceleration...

Haven't touched the oil setup.... It seems like that is a little more involved then what I was looking for, I am running a grassroots turbo setup, basics to keep her boosting without breaking my bank. The setup will be removed in the summer for the "ACTUAL" T2 swap....

Only reason I ask what HP your shooting for is to get an idea of what injectors will work for you.

The oil setup will be fine. The regulators are the same between NA and TII and the bigger pump isn't a neccessity IMO.

I would like to be in the 160-180hp range maybe similar torque at lower rpms, like the power band in the 3-5k range.

Do not use NA injectors in a turbocharged engine. Everyone I have seen do so has blown their engine in short order. Most of the time their excuse is "Well I only want like 200 HP". That's great and all, until the first boost spike or a little bit of happy time with the right foot. At LEAST get larger secondaries, as 720 CC units are cheap.

Edit...Oh, and a fuel pump.

I have two 550's I'd sell ya if you wanted. Nice looking vert btw and I would change out that na clutch. It should work fine for a while but why waste the time installing a new one after it goes.

This is so far out of line I will not even bother picking it apart.
