6-port turbo

I'm about to go through with my 6-port turbo build fully, as in buying the remaining bits and putting it all together finally but one thing has been looming on my mind since deciding to do this build: the reliability. I dont know how long its gonna last. I dont want too much power but my goal is definitely higher than what I've seen on 6-ports before and it's got me thinking about it. My goals are 350-400whp and here is my build:

S362 Borg Warner turbo
Turbosource exhaust manifold and stud kit
Mishimoto universal intercooler with custom piping
Goopy Apex Seals
AEM water meth injection kit
Port matched TII Intake manifolds
Half Bridgeport
upgraded primary and secondary injectors
Link Monsoon ECU w/custom built wire harness
Custom rear exit exhaust
Walbro 450 Fuel Pump
my main question is what is a general estimate of how long itll last and if it was worth all of the effort

well, i'm not sure how constructive either of those questions are to your situation if you're sure the route you're taking is the route you want to take. just build the thing and send it (as the younger crowd says).

your first question is not straightforward, so there is no straightforward answer. if you look at Aaron Cake's Project TiNA, it was/is quite a success in my eyes. i don't know what it's status is right now, but i do know he built and drove/raced the car for several years. i do not know how often he used it, and that is a potential consideration if you're going to use his results to benchmark your car when it's done. another thing is look at his knowledge base and set of skills, i'm sure those were a factor, too. another more recent, and equally impressive result is Relisys190's build - maybe you can get him to give you some insights. however, either way, you should check out both cars.

there's no real way to predict how long it will last. even if you did everything right, there's the factor of the unknown. ignition components can fail without warning. fuel components can fail without warning. the net result for you can be anything from a hurt to a dead engine, and it can happen anytime - on the dyno before you even get to drive it, or 10 days, 10 months, or 10 years in.

i'd say build it in the best way you can. use the resources you have available to you here. there are plenty of guys who have vast knowledge AND experiences that are willing to share and teach. ask pointed questions. soak up what you can, build your engine and enjoy your journey - the good and the bad.

as for your second question, your opinion is the only one that really matters here. you have to live with the car. you have to live with successes and failures. you have to pay the bills.

i'm sure you can find many guys who will tell you your plan is worth it right now. likewise, i'm sure you can find just as many guys that would say you've wasted your time before you've even turned a wrench because they don't like you path. neither set of guys are right, and neither set are wrong. they're just opinions.
