6 Port intakes

Hey all,

I was wondering; I've read TONS of comments on here about how you should leave your aux ports functioning if you have them, and I understand why so I'm not fighting that. But then someone comes along with a 6 port and a fancy intake like these and you never hear anything about his now inoperable aux ports anymore. What gives?

Those manifolds would be in use on a highly modified engine. At that point, the person modifying the car probably only cares about top end power.

At the end of the day, nobodies opinion matters. Do what you want.

My car has no 6 port actuators. I modified a t2 s5 lower intake manifold to mate to an FC upper intake manifold, and them attached a 75mm GM throttle body to that. I have a haltech ps1000, so getting it to run nicely is easy. If I had a stock ecu, I'm sure the engine wouldn't run.

Besides not working with a stock ecu, those intakes are really all high rpm anyways.

Point taken, yet these style manifolds are prevalent on a lot of carbie builds as well, many of which wouldn't qualify as 'Highly modified' engines and still would preferably retain some 'low end driveability'

Agreed on the you-do-you thing though, but having something to base your concepts off of is always nice

Sweet job on the parts-mix, did you modify the plenum to accept the GM TB?

Okay, so work with me here; where would the power start to pick up on those manifolds? A bridge/half bridge likes to idle at pretty high rpm's, so if the power starts coming in at 1000 to 1500 rpm's further up the range I can't see that being a problem

the wrap around manifold looks like the one they used for star mazda, which is a race car, so they don't car about anything under 4000rpm.

the other two are to put a 48IDA carb on the engine, and a new manifold is the only way, keeping the 6 ports would be better, but it would have made it really complex, instead of modifying a 4 port casting

I should have left out engine and just said "highly modified". Simply put, those intakes wouldn't work with stock parts, ecu or carb (I assume, never touched the stock carbs myself).

I do appreciate the quality and style, but they were beyond my budget during my build.

The plenum is port matched to an adapter plate to allow bolt on of the GM throttle body. I can PM you more details if you want. Don't want to get your post off topic.

Look into why aaroncake wanted to make his 5th/6th ports operational.
