I believe that was only N/a's, and that all turbo cars have a 0.762 overdrive.

so what you're saying is yiu cap out only if you hit it in fifth, but if you redline through all the gears, the problem doesn't exist?

140 in fourth is 7800 rpm. Don't rev your engine so high.
150 in 5th is 6400 rpm. Above where you say your problem is.
Unless, of course, your tires aren't close to stock sizing. Then, your speedo will be off anyways, so this thread is entirely moot.

Something here doesn't add up.

For starters, at that speed the speedo can't be considered accuarate. Most speedos read high, and as speed increases that error becomes significant.
Assuming you tyres have the same rolling diameter as stock, a real 150mph needs 6000rpm in 5th, so your speedo's probably off.
At 5500rpm in 5th you'll be doing ~137mph, which is only a little down on stock. It doesn't take much of a power loss (e.g. clogged cat) to lose 5-10mph off your top speed.
You haven't mentioned any mods, so I don't know how much power you should have.

Yeah the speedo is junk. I was at an even speed with people who were claiming 140 on the straight at VIR while my speedo was barely pushing the 120 mark.

Also: what is the speed at redline (7000rpm) in 4th on a 1990 T2?

Also: My gearbox is j-spec, so my ratios might be screwy too.
