The auto and manual pedal sets use the same frame. Don't try changing out the whole frame, just pull out that one long bolt that holds the brakes and theclutch in and put in your manual tranny pedals. That's what I did. ALL of the stuff to do it is there. It's still a bitch though.

Cool 5 speed help needed!!

hi everyone!!

man i had a time yesterday. i was in the middle of the 5 speed swap. and im changing out the pettels. i got the petttals out of both cars with ralitive ease. and i was wondering if there was some trick to getting the assembly out of the manual INTO the auto car. i cant get it in. i can get it close but not lined up properly. i still have the brake acuator in. but it got the arm to go into the hole for it. i cant get it all to line up at once. its starting to become irritating.

heres what ive done so far (in about 2 days) got part car onto jackstands. took off tires and striped interior of things i needed. got pettel assembly out of both cars. removed clutch master cylinder from parts car.

i was alson going to take the bigger brakes and make the 4-5 lug swap. but tose are later plans.

any help on this pettel thing would be great. thanks guys

Haha! Yeah its a ******* bitch. End of story, just keep fighting it. The pedal swap took the most time out of all the time i was working on my 5spd swap. Its a PITA, but it will go in.

Its not that bad... I found removing my steering column made the process 5 times easier. If you've got an S5, I feel sorry. I've heard S4 pedal swaps go much faster for some reason. BTW S4 steering columns have set spines, wheres S5 columns don't. So if you have an S5 and are removing the steering column, MARK the solumn position on the knuckles, or you'll spend hours trying to realign the column. S5s have's don't have the S4 Set-spine that makes evertyhing easy

Dreaded S5s...

EDIT: and you have removed the seat right? I couldn't imagine doing this with the seat still in the car.

i removed the steering column cuz i couldnt see getting the assembly out w/ out taking it out. ya my car is a s4 an 87 to be specific. and the seat is out. i can almost get it lined up to slip over the bolts or w/ever. but its like 1/4' to low and needs to come out and the be set in place. it almost feels like somthing is in the way. cuz i cant get it to move up any more.

somehow that got up at the top of the thread.

with my method I didn't have to remove ANY interior parts at ALL.

but yes it was still hard to do.
