Well, if you read that thread in the archives i gave the link to, mazdaspeed7 mentioned that you might lose a little driveability and gas mileage etc on some n/a's... he said it all depends on how modded your car is, the more modded it gets the more those become a restriction and the more gains you'll see from removing them. Now i PERSONALLY didnt seem to lose any driveability or low end torque, but once again that's me and I dont know what might happen with your car.. it's hard to say. I just suggest making sure you take everything out carefully so just in CASE you want to put them back in you can... i dont want you to end up not liking it or getting worse gas mileage and then coming back and blaming me for it

So instead of wiring the ports open you can simply remove the actuators with the same result? I'd rather do that than dicking around with wiring them or worrying about having them come loose, etc.

Thats what we were talking about. He said that they create a restriction so it is best to take out the sleeves rod and acutator and block off the holes to prevent a vacuum leak.

it is kind of the same, except taking them out completely is a little different than wiring them open, and can be more helpful.. depending on your car, driving style, and mods of course

I have an 87 GXL with a light flywheel, RB header and a few other little things, think that this would make more sense than wiring my ports open? Where do you get the blockoff plates from?

There's really no cut off for this mod, and it's hard to say who should or shouldnt do it.
Read this thread, thats where I got all my info from https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=porting
It is definitely better for a ported n/a, but a non-ported one is hard to say just because everyone's car is differently modded, drive differently, prefer different things, etc. Just like i've said before, be very careful taking everything out so you can put it back in if you end up not liking it.
Also, there are no blockoff plates that I know of, what I did was tap the hole with a 10mm tap and put in a 10x1.0 bolt with silicone to seal the leak.

I wouldn't trust JB weld in my intake manifold, I've heard of a few people obtaining blown motors from doing such. I removed my 5th/6th port system all together, and have epoxy grooved to improve flow. Not exactly sure what epoxy it was, but I got the idea from the Atkins rebuild video. Hasn't failed yet after many thousand miles.
